Damn, so you can use adjectives to help change the expression of the voice? That’s pretty impressive.

“Panicked” or “frightened” would be some good ones too considering he is that way a lot. After he gets his mind wiped, perhaps something like “energetic” and “bubbly” could be used to emulate the naivety and eagerness to serve of a fresh new droid.

Jar Jar, do you think you could potentially do the same thing, but use OT-era lines from Anthony Daniels? Mostly curious for the sake of OT-related projects, but it would be interesting if his voice reverted to a more youthful sound. You could write that off as a hardware issue though.

Some funny thoughts! Thanks for your work on this Jar Jar. It has been interesting to follow it all!

Yeah, you’d just have to extract them from the films with as little background noise as possible. I’m sure if somebody was dedicated enough they could isolate his lines from the audio mix, but I’m just not up for that myself.

Also, it’s not a problem for me to “work” on this. For some reason, I find AI generators super fun to mess around with, and the best part is all of this has only cost me 1 dollar so far.

Would be great to get a Hal style google drive going, separated by characters and then even folders for specific lines that contain various readings.

I updated my previous post. I can’t blame you for missing those two lines because I never clarified what they were on the post they were attached to.

Thank you! That’s very nice to have.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I have a lot of Kylo AI line suggestions, but I’ll take it one at a time so as to not overwhelm. Since this one could benefit Hal, that’s where I’ll start.

From the cutlist:

After Kylo Ren says “I will find you,” cut him saying “…and turn you to the dark side.” It’s implied that he will try to do that once he finds her, but why say it aloud? He should be trying to seduce her to the dark side and masking his intentions.

Here’s an idea for a replacement Kylo line:
“My mother doesn’t see the darkness in you. Your friends don’t either. But I do.”

This is taken directly from the novelization by the way, decent chance it was in the film at some point.

That could work well with what we have been kicking around for Ach-To.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I really liked that line from the novelization. I wonder if it might be too long as a replacement for that line, though. Perhaps I could remove the part about her friends?

Author
Time

Even shorter: “My mother doesn’t see your darkness. I do.”

Author

Since her friends are no longer involved, I could replace the word “see” with “sense”, as in the Force is involved in this.

Well, Hal only cut “and turn you to the dark side,” but to make the new line fit (in terms of both timing and flow of conversation) you’d want to cut more.

This is how it goes in the movie:

Do you still count the days since your parents left? Such pain in you, such anger. I don’t want to have to kill you. I’m going to find you, and I’m going to turn you to the dark side. When I offer you my hand again, you’ll take it.

This is what I’m suggesting:

Do you still count the days since your parents left? Such pain in you, such anger. My mother doesn’t see the darkness in you. Your friends don’t either. But I do. When I offer you my hand again, you’ll take it.

The syllables in the new line are actually less, so hypothetically it should fit, although I don’t mind cutting the bit about her friends. Wouldn’t mind changing see to sense in that case, although I don’t like “your darkness” as much as “the darkness in you.”

I had to split it into three separate generations in order to get the best results. Here they are all stringed together as one audio file:

Here they are separately:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_u1cgPYBP4KeMqm8_HbUEODhSsFUFV8e/view?usp=sharing

For some reason, doing this reminded me of the fact that we can now finally replace “Obi-Wan once thought as you do” with “Your mother once thought as you do”. I guess that’s better for another thread, though.

Niiiiice that sounds pretty good. I do wonder a bit how it’ll sound going from his almost whisper “such anger” to this reading of “my mother.” But the rest of it seems like it should match.

I had been thinking that very thing! Would be great to have (when was that idea first suggested, like a decade ago??)

Also I discovered Oscar Isaac reads a few chapters in this audiobook: https://variety.com/2022/music/news/bob-dylan-audiobook-actor-readers-chapters-alfre-woodard-oscar-isaac-philosophy-modern-song-1235392871/

I wonder why I never noticed that audiobook. I could give it a shot, I just need to make another audible account with another email to get a free ebook lmao. No way am I paying 12 bucks for that.

Yeah not worth the price especially because who even knows what it sounds like. Let us know if it works out.

I’m getting really intrigued by this Eleven Labs stuff may need to pick your brain in a PM to see how it works.

It’s very hard to get it to whisper. I applied that as an adjective and what I supplied was the best it gave me. I guess it might work the way it is because Kylo is kinda changing subjects a bit when he starts talking about his mom.

I hate to say this, but Mark Hamill’s voice in this audiobook sounds quite different from how he sounded in the Sequel Trilogy. His voice is a lot more gravely. What I think you should do, Jar Jar, is use AI software to cleanly isolate Hamill’s dialogue from Episodes VIII and IX, as well as the deleted scenes, and use that to sample for Luke’s new dialogue.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

Might I suggest mvsep.com?

Literally haven’t tested this or know if it can isolate anything other than vocals from instrumentals, but someone suggested audiostrip.co.uk/#isolate to me the other day.

I agree, Mark uses a much deeper voice in the films. Like I said before, I’m not willing to do all of that work myself, but if somebody wants to give me the audio files I can synthesize them.
