The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released) — Page 589

Actually, I think Palpatine knowing about the dyad survived well into the post-production process: the Reddit leaks that came from post-production workers described Palpatine’s plan being to drain Rey and Kylo’s energy, even claiming that Palpatine talked about the dyad during his first scene.

In general, the plot leaks before release sound a lot better than the movie itself: it feels less rushed, more developed, and generally more satisfying. Unfortunately, unless they eventually release the deleted scenes, it will be impossible to make the movie feel like it did before it was mangled in editing.

That is a very compelling case for adding some clarity to the third act, and some consistency to Palpatine’s ambitions, as well as a more meaningful resolution for Rey.

They probably changed it so that Kylo and Palpatine clearly had conflicting goals all throughout the film. And to make Kylo less of a puppet/plaything for him.

I mean, yeah. If Palps wants them to come together to him for his plan to work, and Kylo spends the entire film trying to do just that, then he’s kinda getting played. Makes Kylo seem kinda foolish at the very least.

Has jonh reached back with his updated force ghost VFX yet? 🤔

Not to mention Palpatine tricking Rey and Kylo into having them both come before him would just be a total rethread of TLJ. That might’ve also been a reason it was changed, though it’s not like this movie is afraid of rethreading old ground.

To be fair at least that made Palpatine’s retconned connection to both Rey and Kylo more sensible, if he had been secretly cultivating this dyad for years as his ultimate goal. Tough I prefer the idea that the dyad is something new that has formed between them sometime during or after TLJ, as implied by the change to Kylo’s line, and with that change it makes more sense that Palpatine wouldn’t know of it.

I was just so happy to be able to use that gif

Yes, Kylo is getting played, but that is what you’d expect. That is what Palpatine is known for. He played the Jedi Council and the Senate, too.

Yes but he was also able to easily play the senate mainly because He Is The Senate😂

The Jedi voices scene now features the return to the franchise of Sors Bandeam.

Super cool, Cap! I haven’t watched the scene in ages, so I wasn’t entirely sure which one was him; but…was he “We are all one in the Force, Rey”? I feel like that line needs a touch more reverb there - he sounds much clearer than Qui-Gon immediately before. Also, does the background audio sound a bit wonky to anyone else around 0:55, at the big music swell? It’s maybe a bit too loud, or almost like the different channels are increasing at different rates or something.

Definitely an awesome first step! How amazing is it that we get custom dialogue from an official Star Wars actor?

The only characters that get two lines are Anakin, Yoda, Qui gon & Kanan, seems a tad excessive to give Sors two lines as well. I like the first line “we are all one through the Force” but the second one “as it carries us” is a bit awkward. So I’d say keep the cameo subtle with only the first line as to not mess with it too much.

I agree. Of course, its freaking awesome that this project reached the scale of having a cameo of someone who actually played in Star Wars, but still, I dont think ot deserves more than one short line. Like, c mon, Ahsoka or Mace Windu have one short line and why this person would have so many? 😉 i agree that the best would be a subtle cameo.

Might have to agree. Seems like the “minor” Jedi in this scene like Mace only get one line, so let’s leave it at that.

Yeah, I don’t think the youngling deserves a major role in the voices scene. Right now it feels a bit too meme-y, like those edits that have Ackbar replace Holdo in TLJ. Just one line from him is fine.

That was quite the impressive 30 second rotoscope to get everyone’s favorite giant lobster in there.

heil Palpatine!

Especially because the character literally doesn’t appear in Hal’s Episode III edit.

I think some vocal effects do need to be applied to Ross Beadman’s voice for the final version.

How are the VFX coming along? I believe it’s Rey’s eyes and Anakin’s saber that’s left. Unless I’m forgetting something else. I promise I’ll be patient.

Well, the Phantom Four by jonh still needs an upgrade. 🙃

Wasn’t that one side shot of Anakin already upgraded back in May?

I know, but I wonder if he’s been able to work on something else. 😃

I’m sure the reason jonh has been away is because he’s been busy with his filmmaking career.
