Here is a list of things I’m currently hoping to get from others for this project, to consolidate it all for the moment:
- Fixed video for the ‘squeaky wheel’ scene (be it FX wizardry to remove puppetry or cropping while processing the rough video and removing a few white film specks)
- The ghostly energy of past Jedi entering Rey, from Chase Adams
- Star Destroyer crashing over Coruscant for the finale (snooker)
- Ben as a Force Ghost
- Faint double rainbow over the Lars homestead
I’d be curious to see these as well.

You could use shots from the deleted hall way scene in Rots with Anakin, obiwan and shak tii.

This is so wizard! I look forward to seeing the final version. I hope you are sticking with the Sir Alec Guinness version for continuity sake. It took me awhile to let go of Sebastian Shaw at the end of RoTJ, but I’ve come to accept Hayden’s version at the end of that film. I am assuming you’ll use that version of Anakin (Hayden) for this shot?

That looks very good, though I question including it in a final product.
Assuming you’re planning to complete it for it’s own sake regardless, perhaps a super low opacity version to be almost subliminal could be cool.
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I think the best way to incorporate the force ghosts is to reduce the opacity and have them only blink into and out of existence with every lightning strike in the room. They can probably recede back into nothingness for half a second after the lightning is gone (replicating a sort of after-image effect) but I think relying on an audience’s ability to resolve visual information very quickly will help out a lot.
You can also probably get away with using stills of jedi - thus increasing the ability to exponentially increase with each lightning strike the number of jedi showing up in the background (probably in the far background, too) to support Rey in ghost form.

I think it might be best to cut the bit where Poe says that he knew Hux was the spy. Oscar Isaac had said that J.J. was allowing them to improvise more on set, and this really felt like one of those moments, especially along with Finn’s response. It really stood out too much.

That looks just wonderful, like the icing on the cake for an already fanservicey scene. Though I agree maybe a more subtle effect (maybe more Jedi appearing with each lightning flash) could do it even better.

I also think it word work better if we saw subtle flashes of their faces among the lightning flashes. It would work, even though I’m someone who really didn’t go crazy over that scene in the movie.

I did a meter test only on the flashes but they are not appreciated, it is rare, so I have reduced the size of the ghosts and lowered the opacity

About your tests. They look really nice! I don’t think this is a big issue, but I wonder if in this case it might be more fitting to use the Yoda from TLJ, since that is how we saw him in the previous movie, rather than how he looked in the OT.
Also, are you motion tracking the ghosts with the movement of the shot? It’s hard to tell but they feel a little floaty.

Hahaha, I knew someone was going to say that.
But you know what I mean. Force ghosts aren’t normally floaty, and elements that are inserted into shots without being tracked in tend to have that disconnected feeling.

That’s some very nice work. However, I think the only way I would actually want to use it as if it is so subtle that it’s almost hard to notice on the first viewing.
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
