Ziggy, I like how that clip is paced, but it kinda destroys any logic the sequence had.
I agree.

I say axe Lando’s scene on passana completely, it’s contrived and brakes the pace. If we save his introduction to the scene where Poe is talking to Leia’s body it would be more impactful.
Here’s what cutting the scene would look like.

I approve of this.
Do not DM me for edits. Whatever you’re looking for I don’t have it.
Well, the full extended shot is only 8 frames short of totally covering both the Poe “hit those cannons” and Wedge “good shooting, Lando” shots. The remaining 8 frames of audio are easily removed. So, this stands to be a very nice change, for plot logic reasons.
I will play with the audio when I can, tonight if I’m lucky. We will need someone to doctor the video a little to remove watermark and make the color/contrast/brightness/other-things-I-don’t-know-about closer to the film footage. I’m confident someone here can do that nicely, so I will proceed with getting the audio to sound like how it’ll need to and post a clip when I can. 😃
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
Ok Jonh, that’s your cue! 😉
“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”
And, of course, there will be room for a handful more "woo"s from you all. Send 'em to me!
Right now, the now much longer shot opens with, “We believe in you, Poe!” and “We’re here to help, Poe!” Halfway through there are a couple of, "For Skywalker"s, and then nothing for a few seconds.
You’ll get a sense of how it is whenever I can get audio sounding good!
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
Anyone have any Poe dialogue in mind or at the ready to replace the later line, “This is our last chance, we need to hit those cannons now”?
It’d about need to be replaced if the only other line explicitly referencing the cannons is gone.
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
Any lines used during the oscillator attack scene in TFA? Just something he can say to not focus on the canons or the word about canons?
“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”
Rose also says hitting the cannons might ignite the SD’s main reactors, it’s the only reason they think they have a shot against the fleet.
Also I really liked how the Wedge cameo blended with the added comms chatter, where as it felt random originally.
Yeah, I don’t think the cannon line needs to be changed at the end. The world saved I understand, but as Burbin said the “hit those cannons now” line works with what we are seeing and with what Rose said before.
After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.
For a while, I’ve been trying to think of places in the movie that the incredible music from the final TROS trailer could go in since it wasn’t used in the film. You’ll have to excuse my poor editing skills, but I made a rough mock-up placing it immediately after Palpatine dies. I actually think it fits pretty well + I really wanted to replace the music there with something else since it’s a boring repeat of the overused Force theme again. The only issue I see is I’m not sure where to exactly end it. The music actually “fades” off in a decent area because the epic destruction montage comes to a halt when Rose tells Poe that Finn is still on the ship, but my editing for it is very awkward.
OMG, I love it. This fits perfectly! Please include that in any way
In my edit I cut out “those cannons”.
“This is our last chance, we need to hit now!”.

Thank you for reminding me about Rose’s earlier line about the cannons. I think that’ll be fine, then.

Ziggy, I like how that clip is paced, but it kinda destroys any logic the sequence had.
Moving the Star Destroyer sequence could be done without destroying the logic, as far as I can tell.
But otherwise, yes, the question of why the group would follow a stranger would have to be addressed.
Maybe shooting the stormtrooper could remain to show the group they can trust the guy, but the stormtrooper’s dialogue would need to be changed.
Otherwise, Lando’s disguised voice could be easily altered (he only says three lines anyway) to have him say something else.
I’ll continue to play with this.

But if they’re ID’d on the planet it ruins Kylo getting the necklace. I welcome further work, but I wouldn’t count on using it. No offense, of course.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”
I don’t get it. Is TROS Ziggy and I’s mutual enemy?
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
Lol, no not at all. My comment was about the idea of trying to remove the Lando scene since it’s weird to “follow a stranger.” It is not too strange in the context of being spotted by a Storm Trooper, a guy kills him and then says follow me. It’s not too strange to track the idea they will at least hear the guy out. The stranger’s first act was helping them out, it doesn’t imply they all out trust him, but at least will check the guy out.
Plus, they got to get out/hide since they’ve been outed. So in that very moment and need to make a quick decision, following the guy who attacked a storm trooper is not a bad choice in the heat of the moment.
“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”
Here’s the current state of this shot. I’ll probably move the “For Skywalker” shouts earlier, and would need a few more whoops and hollers.
It could use some more sound effects as ships woosh into frame from behind, and so forth. Mrbenjamino’s sound effects work well but more are needed.

Ah, I see what you’re saying.
I think the only way to work out the logic would that you’d have to have either the stormtrooper or (disguised) Lando say something else.
They’re both masked with altered voices and have just a few lines a piece, so that makes it easier.
It would have to play out something like this:
Obviously, not something that needs to be included in this edit. But I do think it would help the pacing if it can be pulled off.

It would have to play out something like this:
- Rey: “We have to get to the Falcon. It’s Ren.”
- The group runs through the crowd.
- Stormtrooper: “What’s this commotion about? Who are you? Let’s see some ID/scan docs.”
- Masked Man (aka Lando) shoots the stormtrooper, then: “Follow me.”
- The group returns to Lando’s transport.
- Star Destroyer sequence.
Obviously, not something that needs to be included in this edit. But I do think it would help the pacing if it can be pulled off.
That could work, really need to see a cleaner concept first.

Anyone know of any clips from The Clone Wars or Rebels or Resistance where several ships enter frame rapidly? Maybe could lift audio for the couple ‘squadrons’ of small ships at the end of the extended shot.
I wonder if maybe reintroducing the Wedge shot at the end could let us cut away from the extended shot right before it gets particularly problematic from an audio perspective with the squadrons.
And Poe can still say “hit those underbelly cannons” via comm.

How about sneaking in a “This is the way?” when those Mandalorian spaceships fly by?

There’s the moment when the Rebel fleet first comes together:

I can’t think of any off the top of my head, Rogue One has a scene like that over Scarif.
