Just watched the workprint. Liked the flashbacks, the “ok!” Edit, Loved the “I will be your protocol Droid” and the “Kill me now” joke.
The overall feel and pacing is so much better.

Things that stood out.

Surprised you kept the Rey handing over of Saber continuety issue in.

Finn saying “look sharp” to R2 seems the same as Leia saying “take that expression off your face” to 3PO in TLJ.

Weird audio issue from group falcon scene to vaders mask.

Soundtrack clash coming out of above scene.

Desert chase feels a little cold in tone.

Did you add the trooper saying “move animal” to Chewie?

Are you adding KoR voices?

Hal kept that TLJ line in, so I don’t see the problem.

That’s from Skenera. He did a separate color correction for Passana, trying to make the colors less warm.

No, it was in the original version.

I think Hal said he would, but Axianlan’s work hasn’t been finished yet.

Nice! It was only the second time hearing it in 5.1 so I heard so many new little parts.

Very happy with this version.

Hmm, what audio issue do you notice on the transition into Dom’s Kylo vision sequence? Nothing sticks out to me.

And yeah, I guess Finn’s new first line does sort of reflect that 3PO line. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, but I hadn’t thought of that.

And I definitely do plan to use at least a little KoR dialogue once that material is ready.

Audio in sounds like the last note ends but comes back in again.

Audio out sounds like the next track note comes in just before the fade out just after the mask pieces are slammed down.

If doing a Rey nobody version, would you remove Palpatine offering the throne to Rey by re-purposing it as Palpatine telling her to kill him so she could give in to the Dark Side?

Just a tiny detail, but there’s an unused shot of Poe reacting to Lando’s entrance that works really well.

I don’t notice anything that sounds out of the ordinary with the mask sequence. To be sure, what you hear isn’t in the original, right?

I don’t know about a Rey Nobody cut’s version of that scene. I basically plan to just copy Dom for the relevant scenes.

That Poe shot is nice, but it seems like we’d basically have to swap it for another anyway.

And the PT and OT each have a movie with no capital letters in their crawl. Same goes for my edits of them.

No, the original goes falcon to mask fix. You’ve added kylo flashback in between. It’s very subtle so I wouldn’t worry if it’s not audible in stereo.

Everything else is very seamless.

Okay, just wanted to make sure it wasn’t originally as the mask pieces first appear.

And about the saber continuity thing: That doesn’t bother me and I don’t want to remove a scene just because of it or anything.

I would love for them to be silent and just have that look of unease. We don’t need them to give us story details.

I don’t have a problem with the ‘ghouls’ line. It’s a quick expositional aside. I actually think it’s kind of funny some people thought he said “cool.” And now it’s a fun moment for it.

And I’ll leave the exploding fly…trooper (?) as is. The excessive explosion is this trilogy’s Grievous death.

And here is the other way that was mentioned, which has it end after Kylo says “You have his power” I feel like there would need to be more silence before we show Rey’s shocked reaction though because it seems abrupt to have the music swell that quickly after the “reveal”

Edit: I don’t know if either of these sounds any better but it’s probably okay how workprint 4 has it

I think the first one feels too vague for the dramatic music, and the second way too vague. I think WP4 is gonna be the way this stands.

R2’s physics in ROTS is cartoony to me mostly because it is just so contrary to how we see R2 look and behave in all the rest of SW.

I’d still like to see a version of the scene, with Obi-Wan tossing the comlink at R2 only for it to realistically hit his dome sharply and clatter to the ground. As if someone threw a handheld phone at a metal refrigerator.

Here is the first pass of Rey V Zori on Kijimi… there are couple masking issues and the first scene needs the saber to be toned down a little but pretty good for a first pass I think. I am excited get working on the first Lightsaber fight next.
