I’d love a link to this edit as well. Rings of Power has some bright moments in it but the ungodly amount of filler content makes it very difficult to enjoy. Your version sounds like an absolute improvement!

I’ve avoided watching this show because the consensus is it’s a slog to get through. You have piqued my interest immensely! Perhaps a spare link?

I am only about 25% finished watching but so far it is quite the achievement. I didn’t dislike the original series, it just felt like too much filler and this edit moves at a great pace.

My only “complaint” is the lack of a quick establishing scene with Nori before she finds the stranger. Maybe just her and her friend berry picking for 20 seconds so we know who she is would be good but otherwise I am enjoying it greatly. Very well done.

Hi Anjohan, I’ve seen your Season 1 edit - very good it is!

Are you planning to do a Season 2? I know we’re only three episodes in but some great reviews and Rotten Tomatoes critics rating sitting proudly on 92.

Season 2 definitely feels like an improvement but that’s not to say it wouldn’t benefit from your skills. I’m already thinking a ‘no Numenor’ edit would work well?

It appears the most plodding and disconnected of the plotlines, and whilst the Isle of Numenor is important to the overall story perhaps the Showrunners should have left that plot thread for Season 3 and focused on the more urgent and exciting Middle-earth based this Season?

Be interesting to hear your preliminary thoughts on a potential Season 2 edit?

Hello, Matt, and thank you for those compliments. Greatly appreciated.

After watching the first two episodes of RoP Season 2 (one to go still), I would most definitely agree with you. I have an idea already on how you could remove literally 60 percent of season 1 whilst still keeping the Sauron twist, and going straight to the Middle-Earth action that we all came here for.

I think that if Galadriel and Halbrand split up very shortly after their encounter on the fleet (and or a very brief visit to Numenor), followed by the Rings either being already-made or being made in the opening hour of the film, would give great urgency to the story and allow it all to unfold rather sharply.

And Numenor should most definitely be a sidelined plot, with parts of it mayhaps used later down the road.

I think I might remake the entire Rings of Power structure when this season is done, and split them up in two films with greater focus.

And! Bronwyn must most definitely die during the first battle in the Southlands, seeing as how i wanted high stakes in season 1 that never really came (now they can) and since the actress didn’t return.

This way you could have five plots going on at the same time:

  • Bronwyn and Arondir
  • Galadriel
  • Elrond and Durin in Khazad-Dûm (Elrond being useless thus far in s2, could be great to keep him away in khazad-dum)
  • Halbrand, and then Sauron
  • Harfoots (go straight to season 2 storyline after the first two episodes + the last from Season 1).

Dancing between these outlines from both seasons I think will craft two strong movies in the long run.

WHAT HAVE I DONE?
The Ancient Lore
Kenobi: A Star Wars Story
Harry Potter Revisited
Game of Thrones Film Edits
Titanic Restructured
… and more.
