Q2’s Fall of the Jedi Trilogy fanedits.

  • “Chosen One” nonsense is removed;
  • Droid anachronisms are removed (in fact, the droids themselves are almost entirely cut);
  • Anakin’s fate at the end of Episode III is edited, leaving ESB revelation intact;
  • Padme’s fate at the end of Episode III is altered, leaving Luke’s ROTJ revelation intact and allowing his conversation with Leia on Endor to make more sense;
  • Anakin is far less whiny;
  • Obi-Wan is far less argumentative;
  • Anakin and Padme don’t fight their feelings;
  • VERY little dialogue and antics from Jar Jar;

…and that’s off the top of my head.

Would agree but they move too fast. Feels too much like an “edit”. Unfortunately you have to keep in some things that suck to keep the pace even. I think Hal or octorox are the best as far as removing as much crap while still feeling like a complete film.

I haven’t seen the octorox edits yet, how are they?

I disagree. In fact, one of the reasons I like them is because they don’t feel like edits. Perhaps we’ve seen so many edits and know the movies back to front so well that we can tell when dialogue is missing at times, but for the most part they’re really well done.

I would say the reason I gave up watching L8wrtr’s edits in favor of Q2’s is because of some decisions L8wrtr made that make them feel like edits.

Unfortunately you have to keep in some things that suck to keep the pace even.

And again, nope. I really enjoy the effort Q2 went to to make watching in chronological order not a spoilery affair for the OT. No other editor has tried this.

I agree that the cuts in and of themselves are all very smooth, I just feel that they move too fast as films. I’ve not seen the film unedited in 10 years or so I’d say.

Re:octorox. Basically a hybrid of q2, Hal, and l8wrtr with a few original edits. They move brisk but aren’t too fast. Mainly conservative as far as plot structure is concerned. Keeps original names. Episode 2 has an original music montage for Anakin and padme falling in love to replace dialogue and I think it works pretty well. No ep 3 yet. Only real complaint is there are one or two things in each that were cut that didn’t hurt anything being in there that I would have left just to relax the pace a tad and the video quality, while pretty good, could be slightly better. The highest video quality versions clock in around 17 gb, I think fluffing it out to around 19 or 20 could have been beneficial, especially since this is likely at least a 3rd generation re encode for much of it seeing as it uses hals video for much of the base since it was slightly regraded and was probably reencoded again from that unless he used an editor with smart rendering. Don’t get me wrong though it still looks very good.

You’ve got my interest piqued, especially since the Extended Edition of Episode III that he does have has The Cutter’s ending for Padme included (which, for me, is make or break at this point).

I enjoyed the fan edit of episode 3 called Dark Force Rising by Kerr . It made for a much tighter story and eliminated the most cringe worthy parts . But that’s just like , my opinion man .

I respect all opinions, altho i have decided to go for adywan’s theatrical editition for TPM, i just need to get my hands on it
And for ep II and III ill watch bluray ones probablly since there arent many difference, only major one being cgi yoda, i wont mind him, so watching II and III BR only for quality

The only way I can bear to watch the prequels is with all the gaggy stuff still in. At least then there’s something to cringe at. Remove that and they’re just boring. And I couldn’t conceive of TPM without my favorite character in all of prequeldom, the legendary CPY.

For these reasons I prefer the original DVDs.

The speed of the film and audio pitch are too high in Kerr’s edit. I think he created it from a PAL source instead of NTSC, and that is super annoying.

Well yeah, if you aren’t used to PAL it’s super annoying…

Which one, CPY or PAL? Seems like you don’t get either, but assuming CPY…

ohhh… Creepy Puppet Yoda.

I tried googling “CPY Star Wars” before asking, but it didn’t return anything useful.

The one thing that I would change in the Star Wars prequel trilogy would definitely be getting rid of jar jar binks. That actually goes without saying.

Yep. In my opinion, I do not see why so many people still claim The Phantom Edit among their favorite TPM edits. It just does not cut enough Jar Jar out, and that’s only to start with.

I find that most people who claim that haven’t actually seen any other edits.

I strongly second the choice of Kerr’s “Dark Force Rising” fan edit for episode 3 along with the Anti-Cheese edits for episodes 1 & 2. They don’t drastically change the movies, only cutting out most of the “cheesy” crap and also redub the alien voices to something more believable in an alien language with subtitles. I feel at the least they are a good starting point to then look at more rigorous edits if not satisfied with these (Kerr’s edit though is full on and my definitive Ep3 edit).

If you wants copies of those (including anti cheese for Ep3 if you want) just shoot me a PM.
