The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread — Page 85

Ohhhh I like it. It has the fantasy aspect of the OT,

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I am hoping too. Angels mockups are so amazing. I couldn't imagine how beautiful they would be in motion.

They are great repair jobs but I still prefer some of the more radical colour alterations that Angel has done where even the DVD image becomes more clear and more tied in with the universe as seen in the OT.

I'd really would like to see prequel versions more like that but the real problem for me with the PT and ROTJ lies in structure, performance and story decisions (the colour palette is important but it's largely superficial).

For me it's more important to fix the story but to do that it helps to have the best source material to work from so it's great to have those sets as a building block.

True but i like to have a "purist" TMP and then to make radical changes :)

I am 100& with you!

The picture of Jake Lloyd in the desert really sums up what's so horribly wrong about the colours in TPM. It looks like a photo lab accident. I remember watching a pink-tinted 70mm version of Lawrence of Arabia once (due to a lab accident, or just some weird detoriation). It's enough to drive a poor film-loving soul bonkers.

Good work.

Why on earth they made the film so pink, I'll never know.

Nice work Ady!

Maybe it was to prepare us for Ziro the Hutt (it's hard to believe that George could come up with a character even more camp than Threepio).

^Had to look him up. I still haven't watched any of the Clone Wars cartoons yet.

You should! If you throw the childish shit , clone wars shows how PT should look and be lol

Well, I did enjoy the Tartakovsky cartoon. I've missed SO much of the CG one now, though. It would be nice if a channel I have would start playing it from the beginning. That also applies to Battlestar Galactica, which I lost touch with after a while.

Ripplin, you can watch all the episodes of the first season of the Clone Wars cartoon on StarWars.com.

Adywan, those color corrected screenshots from TPM look great! I never really noticed the pink tint until it was mentioned here in this thread. I like that you kept the color correction subtle. Personally, the brightness of the prequels doesn't bother me at all. The look of the movies are the least of their problems, I think.

Downplaying the colors might work in some scenes, such as the droidfactory, to make it less cartoonish and to mask some of the bad CG, and in the lower levels of Coruscant, to make them appear a little more seedy.

 (Edited)

I spend 2 hours to clean this mess (bodies, dirt, blast marks), only to use it as a plate for the next mockup.

and the original

Weirdly enough the perspective is different between these two shots, but the characters seem to match!

I didnt include the other jedi because of lazyness :) you take the picture :)

Enjoy :)

Whoever needs the clean plate for his/her edit PM me.

Shame you put in all that effort for a floor Yoda can't be bothered to walk on.

I can't stand that Mekon chair thing that Yoda floats around in.

Amazing work, Vaderios! Looks so much better than the original, not only for the continuity it creates, but the comp in general is much better.

You make a good point about the perspective, in the original shot, the perspective always seemed kinda off. You fixed this very nicely!

I prefer to see him floating with a flying chair rather to see him flying around with a lightsaber :)

In a way, it would be viewed as an extreme test of patience if people had to walk with him in such massive buildings. I figure the chair was made because A) laziness, B) so people could walk along with him at a reasonable speed. Heh.
