Just to let you know: I finally got around to 'improving' the beta version of my "Meeting on Dagobah" video. It's mostly the same, with just a few improvements some people on here might like (or dislike?).

Anyway, here it is, in all it's glory.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVYndHkM9F0

I'll probably attempt some radical edits to the rest of the movie in the near future. Keep those ideas flowing! :)

It might work better if Yoda doesn't leave the ship until he steps outside to start his exile.

Moving the meditation and Bail's anouncement to the bridge of the Tantive.

I don't know if it's possible to move the arrival of Obi-Wan and Padme etc to the same corridor where Vader will later storm in ANH is possible but it would have a certain story resonance.

Watching this lovely mockup reminded me of something else which is a bit odd.

Why does R2 find it so amusing that his droid friend is about to be lobotomised?

Surely he should be making sounds of concern?

Compare it to the scene where Threepio is damaged and begs to be left behind in ANH R2 isn't laughing his little dome off there.

I like the way that Padme seems to have a telepathic link with Anakin and his pain is killing her not her just giving up.

That said, I would love to see an attempt to have Padme survive and live the rest of her short life on Alderaan so that Leia can remember her but people keen on her not being Luke's sister would not approve.

It would add to the confusion that Vader feels when he is told she is dead.

The line of "i will take the girl, me and my wife..." etc wud be nice if we cud edit it so he sed. "I will take her and the girl, me and my wife" etc. Sounds weird but considerin the fact they said she was dyin, she cud survive for a few years? Illness or something?

Just thought I'd pop in and say I'm still alive! ;) We've been moving into a new appartment...

I thought I'd update and say I am working on redubbing Mace in the council scene from ROTS where they won't grant him the rank of master.

The way I have it now (subject to change):

Yoda is stepping down from the council the following year and has been personally training Mace to take over as head master. Mace (unlike Yoda and Obi) has not liked or trusted Anakin from day one (just like Snape in Harry Potter). Becuase Yoda is stepping down he has decided to let Windu have final say in letting Anakin on the council. Of course the line "You are on this council, but we do not grant you the rank of master." is still there. Anakin says "What?!" Windu's reasoning is because he's too young to handle this kind of responsibilty (although basically everyone knows he just doesn't like him). Anakin says, "I understand" (although we can tell he's upset) and sits down. That's pretty much it right now. That's alot of info but believe it or not, it's all in the edit I'm attempting. I want to finish it and show it to you guys...but I'd like to know if anything sticks out to you that needs fixing....?

I always look forward to your clips, SSWR. This sounds like a good one, too. So there will be some entirely new lines, then? Since Samuel Jackson has been in pretty much every movie and TV show (and commercial and possibly book) for the past 15 years, you have a lot of material to choose from. ;)

Oh my. The colours werent removed by the orange filters. Yes I got colour out of this yellow film. And boy this film is the yellowest movie ever.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I like the way that a color correction can unify the elements all together!

I dont know why they covered such a beautiful movie in one color filters. It looks fake. You would think george would want his films to look real at least. But no he wants them to look over saturated and hard on the eyes.

Nice work on the color correction, EyeShotFirst, but it doesn't seem really necessary in that particular scene. I mean, of course the image is going to be yellowish, they are on a planet covered in lava! The color correction  looks pretty good on Anakin, because he is wearing dark clothes. But Obi-Wan looks too bright to me, he really stands out in that particular shot. The smoke in the background looks a little weird now too. Then again, I don't know a whole lot about color correction, and I guess it comes down to taste as well. Personally, I like the intense reds and yellows.

Looking forward to your new clips Davnes and SSWR!

Davnes, since you are working on the meeting on Dagobah and the birth of the twins, can I make a suggestion? In ROTJ, Leia says she remembers her mother, but the birth scene in ROTS is the only time they spend together. How about we make Leia being born the first. It wouldn't require a lot of editing, only switching around some dialogue. If we do this, Padme holds Leia for a while, and I was thinking of inserting a new shot of the baby opening her eyes, Padme looking at her, the baby looking back at her, with the Force theme playing underneath this little exchange. It's not much, but it could imply that the impression Leia has of her mother came to her through the Force.

What I've done is removed the spot (in Jedi) where Luke says "...your real mother". It's not worth posting a 5 second change on YouTube...so may do some more work on that part to make it better.

Switching the dialog aroround would be very easy, but showing the baby's eyes opening would be A) Unrealistic; and B) Beyond my current skill set.

Thanx for your support SilverKey.

I'm not sure if just removing the real from the line is enough.

From the way she describes her mother it's pretty clear it was originally meant to be the character that became Padme.

It might be better to show the twins being born and then do a series of time jumps showing the transition between the Republic era ships and Imperial era ships, (perhaps a few battles with the Alliance) the Clonetroopers and the Stormtroopers, have Padme die on Alderaan and see little Leia at her funeral on Alderaan (possibly aged 3 or 4) and finish with the construction of the Death Star with Peter playing Tarkin not Wayne in a Halloween mask.

I wish I could make something like that!

The little girl that appears in the funeral has no purpose at all....

Maybe we can use that for Leia.

She would be important for people who want to use the deleted scenes from AOTC to pad Padme's half of the romance out because she appears in those deleted scenes as Padme's niece but otherwise yeah, would it be OTT to give her the hairy headphones?

Would Vader think she was dead or would she still be openly alive (but lost the child) and he can't reveal himself to her because of his new persona?

If Padme did live on how would she eventually die?

Assassin, disease, mercy mission?

By Pad out don't you mean replace LOL ;-)

By "replace", don't you mean "make exist something that's not there at all in the theatrical version"?

There must be lots of celebrity pictures of a very young Carrie Fisher with her parents.

It might be possible to put little Carrie into the film.

As a completely non-OT:R subject but related to Ady's mock-up, I would also suggest making Mace the only Jedi to confront Palpy.  This may be a nightmare to edit (both visually and auditory), but if pulled off would add a lot to Mason J. Windu's character.  Just something to file away until 2019....

i will be doing that.

Considering that... then:

I ve notice something very interesting. In the below pic, notice that shit that is behind windu's head. Between the shot of the arrival and the shot of the arrest this thing moving and the BG is slight changes... ILM failed to that again!
