I think the inciting incident in ROTS should be that Palpatine tells Anakin that he is Sidious. Ideally during or immediately after the duel with Dooku. It raises so many interesting questions like: “why does he straight up tell Anakin?” “Why was he kept prisoner by dooku” “Why did he allow anakin to kill dooku?” And most importantly it puts Anakin into a position where he has to act, he is out under pressure. Does he tell the Jedi or does he cover for his friend. It also makes the spy plot so much more interesting if anakin already knows Palpatines identity by shifting the focus to Anakin: How will it affect him, which side will he chose?

The way it is the opening is just completely isolated from the rest of movie, no of the events really matter for the rest of the movie, rather they hurt the rest. Like Anakin pointing out how spying on the chancellor is against the Jedi code which feels stupid for him to say as he obviously doesn’t care about the code to begin with. Yet it is a valid point and it adds tension to this awfully slow portion of the plot.

I thought about the neat idea of having the initial prequel trilogy condensed into the first episode of a trilogy that has the Obi-Wan miniseries and Rogue One follow it

Then again, some may call me crazy

Some people myself included did this with prequels, Solo, and Rogue One. But Obi Wan would probably be much better if it’s good.

I feel like Solo and Rogue One don’t really feel like a part of the main saga considering we see basically nothing of the main characters from either the prequel or original trilogies. Did you do any tweaking to make those feel more like part of the sage?

Well, Solo has Han, Chewie, and Lando at least. Rogue One has Vader, Tarkin, and briefly Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, and Leia, and introduces the rebellion and the empire.

Personally I like Solo as-is with just the Darth Maul scene taken out, and I made a version of Rogue One with some trims to dialogue. It’s not ideal of course but I think it’s fun to think of them that way.

I know I’ve seen some people suggest putting Dooku into TPM but has anybody tried putting Grievous into AOTC? I don’t think it would be too crazy to composite him into the meeting Obi-Wan eavesdrops on or something.

I know these lines would be useless for an edit, but just listen to how good this AI Grievous voice sounds. https://fakeyou.com/tts/result/TR:w31g8e0z0yfr8d5gny9r8ds5wtav7 https://fakeyou.com/tts/result/TR:m4hv24rbm167r1b3c8kapzmm5xb1a

The Russian accent is missing, but the vocal effects are on point.

That’s a common suggestion. I don’t approve, but many others do. I agree with leftshoe18 here. Those films are kinda tangential, and they feel more closely tied to the OT then the PT.

I remember years ago someone mocking up a hologram of Grievous in AotC, I think in place of Death Star. The concept was pretty lame, tbh, but the execution was good iirc, effects-wise. Really, if you’re gonna include him, it should probably be in the flesh metal. Heck, at that point I’d be down to include Ventress too, even if it’d be pointless in the context of the films. It’d just be nice to see the whole Seperatist gang together in live-action.

This was actually my concept. Haha.

I recall someone coming on the forum not long after I started getting involved here, around summer 2015, offering to do some effects work, and it was just a suggestion I through out there. Thought it would be a fun way to set up Grievous, since the Death Star doesn’t really play a role in ROTS besides on of the final shots of the film.

Looking back now, I’d rather keep the Death Star, but give the graphics that classic look with the dish at the equator.

I actually don’t think it is available anymore! I think he had just posted them on YouTube, and the links don’t work anymore. I’ll have to check to see if I downloaded it, but it wouldn’t be usable quality even if I had it.

Maybe after Andor there will be enough pre-ANH, live-action Rebellion content to stitch it, Solo, Kenobi, and Rogue One into a movie, but I kind of doubt it. Solo has the problem of being a great prequel but which, in sequence, really comes out of left field. Who are these characters? What do they have to do with…anything??? Rogue One is better in this regard, but still not great (Hey look it’s Bail Organa! Oh he’s gone).

There could be potential to stitch them together a like a tv series.

Make each “episode” a TV season made up of different movies (the PT, Andor, Kenobi, Solo, R1, etc.).

Honestly at this point just post the clip in the thread.

I was actually thinking for a few years now how you could weave together all the various spinoffs into a Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away anthology series.

How different would this be from just…what they’re doing?

You have a point. I guess it wouldn’t do much besides repackaging what’s already there.

When it comes to incorporating the Dark Times content into the main series, I’ve actually been thinking of a fairly interesting idea involving that for a while now: Have the Dark Times content be the new Episodes 4-6, with the OT now being Episodes 7-9.

Episode 4 would be Kenobi (edited into a movie), Episode 5 would be Solo, and Episode 6 would be Rogue One. Kenobi and Solo have been swapped chronologically, but I feel like the “trilogy” is more cohesive this way: Kenobi resolves plot threads left hanging by ROTS and establishes the new state of the galaxy, Solo shows someone trying to survive in this new galaxy and establishes organized resistance movements against the Empire, and Rogue One shows these resistance movements united as a whole and leads directly into ANH.

I feel like this reorganization would have two benefits: It would allow for a bit more of a transition between the radically different aesthetics of the prequels and OT, and it would allow for the cool “trilogy of trilogies” structure to be preserved while having ROTJ be the definitive ending.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:

At that point just ditch the episodic trilogy structure entirely. It’s basically vestigial for what you’re doing.

I’ve also been considering that, yes. If I do ditch the idea of the “trilogy of trilogies” (which would be a shame, since I really like it), it would be cool if I could also incorporate some key arcs from TCW, and possibly even trimmed movie edits for Rebels and the post-ROTJ stuff. It would be Star Wars: The Expanded Saga, incorporating almost every movie or TV installment that has ever been released (or ever will be released).
