I think that prequel edits should be viewed in Machete Order, thus spoiling Vader’s identity is not worth removing if an edit is designed to be viewed in Machete Order.

Has anyone any idea how to add some people to Naboo to make the audience care? Because in the original we don’t ever get to see any people living in Theed. Sure the viceroy and Sio Bibble mention the people and their plight at every occasion possible, but we do not see any of them.

We also really need to see the droid army really doing damage to Theed (and its people). As it stands, there’s like one tank and about five droids that we see there. The final conflict in TPM should have been in Theed, not in the featureless fields. The entire Gungan plotline is skippable.

I came up with this idea for fixing the prequels. By making Solo Episode II and Rogue One Episode III, you can go all out in changes using 2 hours of footage from the 3 prequels in a 3-in-1 edit.

Temba, his arms wide!

I also see potential for the Kenobi and Andor series being turned into film-length edits that can be used as prequels. I actually think they would be more fitting as prequels than Solo, which has very little to do with the Skywalkers or the Rebellion. Depending on how much content we get for Andor, you could potentially have enough content for two movie edits. And when you throw in Rogue One, you could have a trilogy with Cassian as the protagonist.

Alternatively, you might be able to do the same thing with Kenobi. Even though it is a limited series, it might have enough content for two movie-length edits, so you could potentially have ROTS be Episode I, Kenobi Part 1 as Episode II, and Kenobi Part 2 as Episode 3.

The trilogies are supposed to have a consistent cast though, so switching between random characters wouldn’t work.

Are you referring to the Prequel 3-in-1, Solo, and Rogue One trilogy idea, Anakin?

I guess that is another benefit either an Andor trilogy, or a Kenobi trilogy, because you would have a consistent cast across all three movies. Diego Luna will be in the Andor series obviously, and supposedly Forrest Whittaker and Genevieve O’Reilly will reprise their roles as Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma respectively. And in the Kenobi series, we obviously have Ewan and Hayden back as Obi-Wan and Vader. And the actors who played Owen and Beru Lars in AOTC and ROTS are also returning.

I think a combo of TPM and AOTC, then ROTS, then Kenobi movie edit might be a solid prequel trilogy depending on what happens in the series.

Because it’s what makes them a trilogy as opposed to some vague anthology. If you wanna do it that way go ahead, but it doesn’t work for me.

Sorry for the 30 minute video, I knew you couldn’t post full movie links, thought 30 min segments were allowed. Is there a generally acceptable length? 5 minutes?

In AOTC, get off Coruscant as fast as possible by eliminating the poisonous slug assassination attempt. The landing platform is now the only assassination attempt. Two was overkill. Also Anakin and Padme have seen each other often between AOTC and Phantom Menace. Helps make their relationship more believable. Anakin is now more mature.

1st scene: Landing Platform assassination attempt.
2nd scene: deleted Senate scene with Padme.
3rd scene: Anakin introduction is now chasing the assassin Zam Wessell through the streets then nightclub
4th scene: Anakin is assigned to take Padme back to Naboo by the Council
5th Scene: Anakin and Palpatine in his office discuss his first assignment.

Then this:

I don’t think anyone has tried this approach before. If interested, PM me for the full 30 minute Mandalorian style episode: Attack of the Clones Part 1.

I’ve probably mentioned it before but I would love a new regrade of Hal’s cut of TPM,especially the outside Naboo stuff, the fields just feel fake but with a nice dusk regrade it would remove that feeling.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since the Phantom Edit came out. We really have come a long way since then.

FWIW, I cut straight from Palpatine saying “Master Kenobi” to Obi-Wan and Anakin in the elevator. Did a similar thing when Snoke says “Han Solo.” in TFA.

Regarding the common complaint that nobody seems suspicious about the Republic being handed the clone army on a silver platter, has anyone experimented with beefing up the dialogue of the final Mace/Obi/Yoda scene in AOTC to suggest the Jedi do try to investigate between films, but had no choice but to accept the clones for the time being? Seems to me there are enough lines in the prequels about plots and puzzles to cobble something together. As a rough proof of concept based on nothing more than lines I remember offhand:

  • MACE: Where is your apprentice?
  • OBI-WAN: On his way to Naboo, escorting Senator Amidala home…Do you believe what Count Dooku said about Sidious controlling the Senate? It doesn’t feel right.
  • YODA: Joined the dark side Dooku has. Lies, deceit, creating mistrust are his ways now.
  • MACE: Nevertheless, I feel we should keep a closer eye on the clones.
  • YODA: I agree. Dangerous and disturbing this puzzle is.
  • MACE: Whoever placed that order did not have the authorization of the Jedi Council.
  • YODA: Speculation is all we have. Proof we need.
  • OBI-WAN: There is a massive shift in the Force; we all feel it. But I have to admit that without the clones, it would not have been a victory.
  • YODA: Victory? Victory, you say? Master Obi-Wan, not victory. The shroud of the dark side has fallen. Begun the Clone War has.

Granted, you would still have the potential issue that when ROTS picks up, it’s three years later and the Jedi are still working with the clones with no follow-up about that investigation, but then again they’re obviously suspicious enough that they want Anakin to spy on Palpatine.

That’s a cool idea with a lot of potential, however you might run out of footage, as the scene isn’t that long. Maybe you should cut the line about Anakin returning to Naboo to mitigate that problem.

That reminded me of an unfinished project of mine, aiming to completely remake AOTC, which featured a new origin story for the clone army as well as some other drastically changes and restructures.

The idea was basically to change the kaminoans original client from the republic to the trade federation.
The story goes like this: After TPM Nute Gunray turned to Silo Dyas (possibly Dooku’s underling, hadn’t worked out his story) to acquire a clone army, because the droids have proven themself inefficient in combat.

However Obi-Wan discovers this operation during the events of AOTC and after he informs the Jedi and the senate of this army, they decide to bust the deal and payed the Kaminoans twice of whatever Gunray offered them. Venal as the Kaminoans are (luckily this is set up by Dex) they agree and the republic acquires the service of the clones.

Here is the scene of Obi-Wan informing the Jedi and the Chancellor:

Now on to Order 66. The existence of this protocol doesn’t make sense, if the clones were never intended to fight side by side with the Jedi. To be honest I don’t have a perfect solution to explain why it exist, so sadly it’ll remain as a deus ex machina to get rid of the Jedi for the OT to happen.
Maybe Palpatine planed all this or maybe the protocol was intended to keep the Clones from revolting. Any explanation is as bad as it being a safeguard against rouge Jedi, which only Tyrannus and the Kaminoans know of.
