It’s not bad, obi-wan disappearing and appearing in a different car later is weird though

maybe someone put him or like photoshop him in the car (like he’s waiting anakin to drive the car lol) in the first to fix the error in later scenes

Maybe we can deepfake Hayden over existing footage of Lloyd and redub the voice. He’d just be an older kid who hasn’t quite hit his growth spurt yet.

Kids teasing him for being small is why he turns to the dark side.

Ironic. The script for the Original Star Wars says Vader is seven feet tall.

This would require fx work beyond what I’m capable of of, however, in my edit I intend to have Anakin remain on Tatooine until the end of the film. This would be acheived through edits, rotoscoping Anakin out of the Maul/ Qui-Gon confrontation and replacing Qui-Gon with Obi-Wan when Anakin leaves his mother (this scene would now serve as part of the closing montage of the movie. Thoughts?

I like the recontextualizing of Anakin in spirit and I dream of a proper first Maul encounter without Anakin at all, but I worry that without some found extended material there isn’t enough to have a remaining sequence, that might be the bigger problem the further down the rabbit hole this goes the more elaborate the solutions will be.

On a semi related note is anyone here already thinking of how they may incorporate the hours of new material we will be getting once the Kenobi show hits?

Love this. I never had an issue with the designs of the ship PT, however the reads outs and graphic graphics in the ships are just too advanced compared to the OT. Just a thought, given the amount of green glow in that shot I’d consider making the readout green instead of blue.

Snooker, this is beautiful! This is exactly the thing I have been wanting to see for a long time!

I think it’s seamless, green to satisfy curiosity but I personally prefer the blue.

To make it seem like Anakin and Darth Vader are different people use the hologram between Vader and Palpatine from ESB but tweak it to have Vader told to kill Anakin.

I can answer almost all questions anyone might have about the Sith from Star Wars Legends, and please do PM me for the bd25 DEED(Despecalised Editions), as I have this version, though I can’t answer technical questions about them. That’s probably a good idea, but to have that in the movie and then not following it up would be really weird, and you couldn’t really follow up on that without undermining it.

Snooker, these are so cool, keep these up!

I went back and rewatched the original scene and it reminded me how abysmal Padmé’s dialogue is in this scene. And honestly what makes it so bad is Natalie’s acting, which blows my mind. Monotone, straight face, literally zero emotion. Is she nervous about the plan? Anxious about whether or not she’ll be able to save her people? I just don’t get it. What kind of direction did George give her? Why did he want her to act like that? I know Hal said he tried to make the pitch of her voice higher (more normal) to no avail, but I wish someone could figure out how to do that seamlessly throughout her scenes.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I threw together a quick edit of the fight between Mace and Palpatine if anyone’s interested. Curious what you all think: https://vimeo.com/358177808
(password: fanedit)

-The idea was to make Sidious seem more menacing/monstrous, and to cut the parts of the fight that seemed unintentionally humorous or weird.

-I used a black screen in between very short shots to let the audience imagine just how Palpatine kills three Jedi so quickly and violently, and (hopefully) create something of a horror-like atmosphere

-Added the beating drum from the very beginning of the movie throughout the fight. I’m thinking of it as a motif representing Sidious’ machinations behind the war.

-I also darkened the whole scene as soon as they start fighting to try to show that Sidious’ power with the dark side is affecting the Jedi throughout the fight, making the atmosphere dark and heavy. The brightness goes back to normal when Mace kicks Sidious in the face, showing that his concentration and therefore his powers have been disrupted.

I was thinking that, if it works in this scene, I might try to apply similar edits to the Yoda/Sidious fight—cutting almost all of it with black screens in between very short shots and darkening the whole thing, with those ominous drums beating in the background. Or maybe someone with more editing experience would want to——my work is clearly sloppy as I’m using iMovie and I barely even know how to use that!

I love it this works perfectly. Only thing I would add is a red hue to the darkness to signify his bloodlust.

I’ve always thought it’d be neat if the lights flicker off the moment Sidious whipped out his lightsaber, as if his force lightning was so powerful it was leaking from him and shortcircuiting his surroundings. Then you could have them keep flickering back on occasionally throughout the scene. IT would really add some intensity and atmosphere to the scene.

I think once we have the Kenobi series, we might start considering most of ROTS to be the middle act of a prequel trilogy cut.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

major changes:

-more dynamic camera operation for a less boring viewing experience
-Amidala’s voice is shifted up
-Gunray speaks alien language
-Restructured scenes heavily

Does anyone have any ideas for an alternate, non-gungan way to reveal Amidala’s queenship before this scene?

You mean instead of the shot of the ship landing (The one in the clip you just posted)? So, like just showing it parked in the forest or something?

Great work. I’d ditch the line “we have a plan that should immobilise the droid army” and go straight to “we’ll send what pilots we have” using the CU of Anakin to mask the cut. To me, sending fighters to attack the control ship sounds half baked as far as plans go.

I posted this here a while back, but I am hoping to get back to this edit now I have the time. I love feedback on what people think of the restructuring of the duel. I’ve attempted to keep it in line with the physics of the OT.

By-the-way, I really like what you’ve done here, snooker. I love the erasing of Boss Nass and the added graphics. The editing out of certain lines helps alot. Also like the added camera move in the palace. The one thing I would look at is adding back in the short beat before the next scene begins. Slightly abrupt. The close up of Anakin with R2 beeps (in the original) helps smooth the transition into the next scene.

No, the reveal that Padme is the Queen and not just a handmaiden.
