I like it because it makes Anakin seem really cool.

I can answer almost all questions anyone might have about the Sith from Star Wars Legends, and please do PM me for the bd25 DEED(Despecalised Editions), as I have this version, though I can’t answer technical questions about them. Auntie Derry/Rumpelstiltskin.

This isn’t super radical redux but is there a better version of the Death Star replacement sequence from the Prequel Fanedit Care Package?

Hot take: The Force Awakens is in no way, shape or form a rehash or remake of A New Hope.
It’s no more derivative than the average sequel, and is certainly less derivative than the prequels.

Here’s an idea I haven’t seen. How about having Anakin admit to killing the Sand People to Palpatine while keeping it a secret from Padme?

Oh man. 10 years and a day I replied first.

We should make these radical edits soon right?

Hal did that.

It sounds cool and I could probably do a decent voice act of it.

Actually, that’s an idea I remember seeing suggested. I’ll go with the claim that it was Hal. Funny enough, Palpatine’s original dialog in the duel with Dooku in RotS, which was reduced to that stupid “yeah”, originally had him saying that he remembered Anakin telling him about the Sand People killing his mother, and telling him that Dooku paid them to kill her in order to get him angry and vengeful toward Dooku.

Why guess how old Frink is when it’s easier just to say he’s a crotchety old man?

The orange saber works pretty well with Dooku.

On another note, a little detail I think would make a nice addition in ROTS would be for Anakin’s eyes to be yellow in the shot of him brooding on Mustafar.

Although I’ve kind of felt the “Sith eyes” were a cheap way to show when someone is consumed by the dark side, I think it is sort of necessary to visualize what the Sith, and Anakin in this instance, are feeling. I think having a little extra moment of Ananin visibly consumed by the dark side could help justify Anakin’s actions and personality later when he is with Padme and Obi-Wan. He finally understands the power of the dark side, which is why he seems so confident in his “new powers”. Sidious even tells Anakin that only after he has killed all of the Jedi, and eventually the separatist leaders, that he would be strong enough to save Padme. Just a thought though.

Here’s something that was brought up on the first page that could work very nicely:

Make Geonosis Tatooine.

This would add heaps to the world of Tatooine instead of just having some random planet we never see again. This is a prequel trilogy that sets up already existing movies, why not do some actual set up? This would explain the anti droid sentiment on the planet, seeing as droids once controlled it.

It would also help Anakin’s character if the bad guys of the trilogy were responsible for his mother’s death. Instead of a Tusken Raider camp, it could be part of the Separatist base? A forward operating base?

Just like the Empire killed Luke’s family, the Separatists would take the last of Anakin’s family.

Maybe this is how Anakin and Padme are captured, replacing the droid factory sequence? They go to save his mom, she dies, and they’re captured, adding insult to injury. This would start Act 3.

How about instead we make Tatooine Geonosis. There’s no reason Anakin needs to be from the same planet as Luke. This would match how Rey is from Jakku.

Geonosis looks really ugly and I hate it.

How might it be possible to cut down the fight on Mustafar? The whole lava river thing especially is just so ridiculously over the top.

The swinging around + lava waterfall is easily the stupidest part. If anyone has any ideas to excise that (without cutting away to Yoda/Palps) I’d love to hear.
