The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread — Page 24

I think it's important to remind everyone about the topic title.

vaderios has effectively showed us that at the very least TPM need a colour fix but this thread is really about ideas that may radically alter the prequels.

It's a spring board for editors who want to take the existing material and really shake it up, rather than just nibble at the edges.

Already there seems to be some moves in that direction with some new edits but I don't want us to lose focus on the mission statement.

Some of the colour changes are radical (when they set a very different mood) but the case for a clean up has been made here now.

Let's move on to making more revolutionary changes and figure out how they may be achieved.

The one thing that is really bugging me with ROTS is zombie Moff Tarkin (is there a way of making him look more like Peter Cushing?) my earlier attempts looked awful but there must be a way (either that or take him out completely, everytime I see him I get taken out of the scene).

Maybe using one or two shots of Cushing earlier movies.

But  we don't know this character yet by the time of episode 3, I don't think that it's an important change to replace him with a younger Cushing. Would be nice though.

Remove the entire scene.

Problem solved.

That would be the less labour intensive solution but unless Ady's plan to film more Vader bears fruit, this is the only time we see Vader under the helmet in the whole prequel Trilogy (even if he is no Dave Prowse, who I hope get's well soon).

It shouldn't be too difficult just to remove faux Tarkin digitally, it's much more difficult to map the late Peter Cushing in (unless some film buff out there can find footage from the right era that will match it in perfectly).

I can't for the life of me figure out why they put that Halloween mask on Wayne Pygram who looks pretty much like a young Cushing without the latex.

F...,  I never paid attention that young Tarkin is Scorpius from Farscape!

Wow, I must have missed a post or two... Ady's shooting new Vader footage?

That's the plan, so far.  We are like 5 or 6 years away from even thinking about RotS:R.

If that soon. But who cares as long as they come. Look, I'll just be excited when Empire is here.

How can the final result look so bad :

When this test looked so spot on?

Test Moff

So is this something that could be improved with a little color correction?

the bottom one was actually a make-up test for Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) which looked so much better than what we got.

Really! Bleedin ell! He looks completely unrecognisable as Chris but exactly like dear Peter (who was a Doctor Who of sorts himself, I met him when I was tiny at a book signing and he was really nice).

It would have been a weird set up though with a too tall Tarkin and a too short Vader in front of a very slowly built Death Star (but Wayne is almost as tall as Chris anyway).

This is hideous :

Tarkin 1

Even this looks less fake :

Tarkin 2

I think they missed a real opprounity by not including more Tarkin in the prequels. I am keeping my fingers crosses for the Clone Wars.

i think hes going to be an antagonist in the live action series

I would like to see him start on the Clone Wars and show his rise to fame. Then I would like to see him on the Live Action Series as well.

Here's another nice Ralph McQuarrie early design inspired Vader which might look more interesting as a prequel version:

that looks so cool. it would be interesting to see a black grevious, maybe as if he is made of similar technology, just more of it?

I'm all for making General Grievous as the reconstructed Darth Maul. I also suggest a re-dubbing of his voice so it isn't so laughable; have it be along the lines of Star Wars: Clone Wars, where it's more menacing and metallic than in the ROTS we have now.

Awesome!

Brilliant!

I try to make him black/more IG-88 style.

yay, could you try making one where his eyes are behind a visor? we never see vaders eyes, but then again it gives grevious charm!

Not 100% happy with him but at least the red eyes give an up to him.

wow, he looks really imposing. it would be a great avenue to explore if there is a maul/grevious hybrid perhaps?
