So what is Adywan planning to do with all the holography and advanced display screens so flamboyantly portrayed in the prequels?  They're literally everywhere: from cockpit interiors, building interiors,  to Coruscant.  Is he just going to erase them, make them look less shiny, or replace them with the old 70's look in the OT by somehow inserting those ancient monitors and knobs?

This is not Adywan's exclusive topic.

Nice work Adywan!!!!!

Jk...lol - good work vaderios. I never noticed how much the PT was oversaturated as well. I guess I mostly concentrate on the OT's colors.

nice holograms.

but i think overall the PT overdoes it on the holograms. they're everywhere. if some could be edited out it would be nice. it wasn't even necessary for that alien to appear as a hologram to the battle droids. plus how is that hologram getting beamed there? there's no hologram emitter base. it's just a hallway.

An interesting idea but if Zam could get the window open to drop the bugs in from right outside wouldn't she just shoot Padme?

It also feels a bit strange without any establishing shot to see Anakin and Obi-Wan right in that speeder but I guess with a bit of work it might be possible to produce an establishing shot (maybe by having the two drop into the speeder from above...just not that far above...wild west style).

I didn't think the scene suggested that she was right outside the window.... Wasn't my intention.... No, she's still a distance away, and in my mind, it wouldn't be hard for two Jedi to find her. I think it works this way, and it eliminates the stupid shot of Obi-Wan jumping out of a window like the impulsive Anakin would have done instead.

I agree. If they can find her when she's flying through the city far away from the plummeting Obi Wan, then your way is more credible if anything.

My internet connection must be on the Fritz as when I first viewed it Mr Ben the youtube player skipped over the speeder take off.

After watching it again it really does play much better, it certainly feels more realistic and less cartoonish.

I'm a bit of a fan of the little confessional scene between Anakin and Yoda in ROTS.

If I were to change one thing I would drop the "shadow" from the line so Yoda makes a stronger link between attachment and greed.

It does seem like Yoda is more on the ball about Anakin's headspace than everybody else and I wish we had seen more like that from the PT Jedi.

The way it currently plays out Palpatine has a much too easy case to make, he hardly has to seduce Anakin to the darkside at all, the Jedi come across as stupid and callous and the Emperor though evil at least appears attentive.

Here Yoda is offering some kind of pastoral advice it's a shame it couldn't have been modified to appear in AOTC when younger Anakin is worrying about his mother.

I also wish something could be done about the scene where Anakin gets a council seat.

It would be better if he quietly sat down and simmered when Mace tells him he won't be a Master, openly bitching about it adds to the spoilt brat image which weakens the character.

He is almost Vader at this point and I just can't see Vader being that stroppy.

Here's my take on that scene. Lots less crying , more plotting. Might still be rendering

It might be better to shift the "I understand" to after Mace has said he isn't a Master but still have Anakin give everyone a bit of dirty look (dropping the "What?").

Your take is better but it still shows Anakin's hand too openly.

I agree.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Idea For the end of RotS

OK I've been thinking about this one for a couple of days now

what if Padme had a third child, the one every one knew about!

and that palpatine had mother and child assassinated (explosion at the beginning of AotC) which made Yoda order Obi into hiding and Organa adopting Leia.

It would get rid of the stupid 'Padme giving up the will to live and look after her vulnerable children' story strand but it wouldn't add much in the way of connecting what we heard about Mrs Skywalker in the OT and what we see happen in the PT.

I did think about the possibility of Obi-Wan going into hiding with a rescued youngling, cutting all references to Vader in the PT so when we watch it in order we think the other kid grew up and went bad and that Anakin is dead.

Kid Boba could provide the necessary source material for the new character if he was purged from AOTC.

He does look like he could grow up to be a bit of a bad seed.

^ This. Anakin being pissed off should just be implied. We should be eliminating all these whiny "throwing all his toys out of his pram" moments.

Also, I find it hilarious that in Lucasfilm, the left hand never seems to know what the right hand is doing. They seem to want to establish in this film (out of sheer convenience I'm guessing) that Anakin would be the first non-master ever assigned to the council in the history of the Jedi. Yet I remember reading specifically in previous books (notably the visual dictionaries) that Ki-Adi-Mundi was the only Jedi Knight currently on the council, and this was because he had not yet taken a Padawan. So not only have they fucked up continuity between a (factual- not eu) book and film within a 3 year period, but also they've changed the meaning of master from having trained an apprentice, to just being some shallow rank.

Irrelevant if you view these films as self contained, but it just shows that Lucas doesn't give a shit about continuity and will force any bullshit storyline or facts in order to get his contrived CGI laden events to happen.

has anyone tried putting dooku on the jedi counsel in TPM?

^Not yet but I'm all for it.

I'm pretty much bogged down with my own bits at the moment but in my take I'd stick him in the council chamber as a hologram (he's out in the field investigating similar situations to the Naboo crisis...Sidious is a busy boy).

I'd then have him on a hill overlooking Qui-Gon's funeral preempting his disconnect with the council and his role as the leader of the Separatists.

I did try adding some dialogue into the council scene but as always John Williams' score is the major stumbling block.

There were some nice mockups around many moons ago (and one really crap one from myself).

So why where there no troop transports in the PT?

For the part on the hill you could add the scene right after he defeats anakin in AOTC. He kind of has a sad depressed expression.
