Just think of Dooku as Sirius Black in Prisoner of Azkaban.

Except that rather than having his name cleared or whatever, noone believes him. He's the last hope for destorying the evil within the republic, and come ROTS, all hope is lost.

A rouge Jedi? Wouldn't that mean he should have a red sabre?

Ha-ha... the spelling has been fixed.

No, you just want things simplified and explained ad nauseam. Doing so is his only purpose in life.

You seem incapable of grasping the idea of a plot which includes shades of grey, in which the antagonist can be a good person, or the villains aren't necessarily working together.

Written proof that you have no idea what I'm talking about. That sounds like first year film student talk. Let's leave this one right here, shall we?

I do understand what it is you'd like Dooku to be, sincerely I do. But I think you're either being hopelessly optimistic about what the plot can support or what you can achieve as fan editors.

Then humour me, O most exceedingly arrogant one. Explain to me what you are in fact talking about. Notice that nobody here is agreeing with your assessment. JasonN, brash_stryker and Ghost are all in favour of Dooku-as-well-intentioned-antagonist, and I've seen nobody else on these boards inclined to dismiss it out of hand like you. There are edits out there which do it, of which JasonN's is only one. Don't say they fail before you've seen them.

How is you deeming it "first year film student talk" proof that he has no idea what you're talking about? I'm all for healthy debating, but at least back up your points with something other than a cheap unsubstantiated dig.

Speaking of this, what is that deleted scene of the the jedi raid of the command ship?

I've heard about that scene multiple times.

If that scene was re-inserted then Dooku with a different lightsaber color probably wouldn't make sense.

It's kinda hard not to be hopelessly optimistic about achieving such a thing when I already proved that such a plot and character edit can be pulled off effectively!!!

Seriously, dude, you're the one who doesn't know what you're talking about. I'll say it again: go and watch a fanedit first and then decided whether or not the changes/edits works before you say that such edits are garbage, because otherwise you sound like a stubborn, narrow-minded purist.

If it's the same scene that I think you're talking about (the one with Ki-Adi-Mundi and Jedi storming the droid command center?), that scene would require A LOT of CG effects and audio work before it could be usable in the final film.

Yeah, thats what I was talking about.  So GL never finished that scene?  Do you think it would be a good addition?

It would be better than starting the movie off with politics.

The animatic (at least the bits we have access to) is in such a rough low resolution state that even a really skilled artist or team of artists wouldn't be able to build on it unless it was scaled down to the point where it was almost invisible.

I can't see Lucas releasing the raw footage for fans to play with either.

I was thinking about AotC today and how it ends. I've concluded that the wedding scene should be removed. If their love is supposed to be "secret" and "forbidden", then why have an official wedding? With records, witnesses, etc. -- it's no good.

I don't want to lose the scene completely. I was thinking it could be added to Anakin's vision in RotS. Start with the wedding and have it morph into the nightmare. I think it would give it more of an emotional impact there, as well as making it more surreal.

Thanks for that Jason it was posted before several times on Youtube but I think it was taken down because it was a Hyperspace item and I couldn't find it again.

And some people think our mockups look rough.

As you can see Ghost it's really too rough to work from.

I think that scene would be a great addition to that scene. The scene became a bit redundant in the original.

Unless Lucas gives us the actual footage (and we are still waiting for a proper OUT release) how could it be done?

Like so much of the unused material of Star Wars it sits in an archive and may sit there forever.

Lucasfilm could afford to fix it if they beleived it would be a good addition.  Right?

Author

They could afford to. They wouldn't do it unless Lucas told them to, which would be if it would make money. Well, I won't be that cruel, but unless there's something in it for them, such as a major Blu-Ray release, that material won't see the light of day, and such changes will only make it into the actual films if Lucas decides to change his mind.

George Lucas is probably saving it for his PT:SE releases. And then he will release his OT:SE:SE trilogy.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Ouch.  I do have a family, you know.

DV, I'd be happy to sit down with you sometime and watch JasonN's edits, or any other edits that play with Dooku's character.  We'll have endless fun explaining to each other what is going on.

Thanks, Ric! You see, I need to be told exactly what's going. Maybe we should record it as a commentary.

Rather than removing  the wedding, I would say just make it so that their marriage neither a scecret nor frowned upon. I mean, in ROTS they live in the same house, yet the Jedi don't seem to notice they're a couple? It just makes them look like morons.

Wow.... Things got heated over the lightsabers..... You know what? Who cares? Some people like the idea of changing Dooku's character. (Which isn't hard at all by the way.) But if you don't like it.... Don't watch it. '
