Agreed… in matters of passion, logic and reason rarely win to rule the day.

So my best friend and neighbor borrowed my car earlier today (hers is out of commission). Said she needed to get away and be alone - which is fine, she goes off on long walks through town by herself all the time (she’s the one I was walking with during the whole Labor Day fiasco).

I got a text from her phone an hour and a half ago…from the police department two towns over saying they found it.

I’ve been freaking the fuck out trying to find out if she’s okay. Been sitting out on the sidewalk outside our apartments the whole time chain smoking hoping she pulls into the lot. Called everyone I can think of, they’re calling people she knows whose numbers I don’t have, I’ve called three hospitals…

If I don’t hear anything soon, I’m gonna get a ride to go out looking for her. Already left a note on my door with instructions for her to go to my place and login to Facebook on my laptop to message me and let me know she’s okay if she gets back and I’m gone.

I’m really hoping she just shows up here soon, but I’m fucking terrified.

Just heard back. She’s fine. She lost my keys though…

What the hell is going on? What would cause her to do something like that? It almost sounds like some kind of emotional breakdown.

What? No, going for long (several hours long) walks is more or less a hobby of hers, and she’s gone over to that town a few times in recent months to do so. It just so happened that this time she lost her phone and the keys to the car she took to drive there. It’s not like she deliberately got rid of the phone and keys.

The only reason I freaked out so much was the fact that I got a text from her phone from a cop saying they found the phone but nothing about her, so I thought something might have happened to her. Apparently that wasn’t the case.

Still have to properly talk to her about it today and make sure that nothing actually happened beyond losing a few things and getting stuck in another town, though. Also not sure how/if/when she got back home, but she’s been active on Facebook since I heard from her last night. I’ll know more when I get home from work.

Yeah, me too most days. Not as frequently or for as long as she does, but it’s definitely not a mental breakdown thing on her part.

I am glad she is safe.

Is your car safe?

If I were I would act under the assumption that the keys fell into the wrong hands, better safe than sorry. Whatever keys were with your car keys, I would change those locks and see about getting the locks on your car changed(unless it is ridiculously expensive).

It is ridiculously expensive. And it’s in another town that I rarely go to so I’m not that worried about that. Unless it’s already been stolen.

I haven’t talked to her yet, I’m still at work, so I don’t actually know the status of my car. If I’m lucky the keys are with her phone at the police station. I’ll find out what’s going on in a few hours…

She’s fine, I just got her home. Need to go back out tomorrow to get a locksmith to make a new key for the car, but it’s in a safe spot thankfully. She made some new friends at a bar in the town that let her crash at their place, shower, and hang out all day today.

Overall, much better results than I feared.

Hey, gang. I know I haven’t checked in for a while, and I’m not sure who cares or is interested, hopefully some of you do, but there have been some better days lately. The crisis of faith isn’t solved, but my doctor put me on Abilify, and it’s been a total godsend, no pun intended. It’s really helped with a lot of the anxiety and endless obsessive behavior. I’m not back to where I want to be, and never will be, in my opinion. But I’m doing much better in some regards, and I’m very grateful for that. There are some new problems with advancing my life now which I may discuss in the future, but I’m back in therapy and excercising again. Now I just need to start putting in some serious effort. I haven’t been keeping up with this thread, but hopefully, I’ve brought some good news to it. I’m not as well as I’d like to be, but in some respects, I am better. And that’s a very good thing.

Why isn’t lunch happening though? If it’s scheduling conflicts you may be okay, but otherwise… Man I just don’t want you to hurt but if she’s opposed to going to lunch with you I think you’re just setting yourself up for rejection.

If it was just because of scheduling conflict then that’s different of course.

RE:Mike. Yes, unfortunately with anxiety and panic attacks something we all eventually realize is that once you have it it’s there to stay. The best we can do is learn to manage it.

But when she makes plans is it ever just the two of you?

Talk to her about it sooner rather than later.

Good to hear from you, I am glad things are better for you. Good luck with the therapy and exercise. It’s nice to hear some good news.
