If you don’t mind me asking when might your Episode II Edit be completed?

Author

In addition to usual fixes, Episode II needs some background replacements for the shots aged most poorly. That would mean building them in some 3d program and since I have not had the time to study such programs yet, it is impossible to give any release date for that project.

The mkv contains spanish subs?? Thanks in advance 😎

Lo siento, no tiene subtitulo espanol. The movie has only english subs for the alien dialogue. The subs would have taken a long time to edit manually. Since the edit was completed, I have learned there might be some way to do it in the workflow but I haven’t looked into it yet.

Really interesting in your VFX work.

His TPM was going to be TPM on steroids, mine is more like TPM on strong vitamins compared to that.😄 His ideas were very ambitious with 3D rendered new shot and I’m not sure who would have the skills and time to finish all he planned. It would take a long time too. Maybe some kind of group effort would work.

Alaskan sandman’s project made me wish there was a group a fans that could update cgi in both the prequels and the original trilogy because not all the cgi scenes in the original trilogy were bad.

Sounds amazing! Could I get a link? Thanks 😀

Fullmetaled, Since you really seem to want updates to CGI, I would suggest to get proactive and organized about it:

-Start a thread, maybe per movie where you list the top 5 (for a start) shots you would want to be updated with CGI. Ask people to mention any fan editors with required skills. Update the thread to know if the work starts on some shot and if/when you get some of the shots done.

-PM the people you think have the skills to pull off CGI- work (more complex than VFX fixing with other methods) and tell your plans to form a CGI- shot pack for everyone to use in their edits.

-Make a cloud storage account(s) (MEGA, Icedrive, something else) and share access to the account/specific files for them to upload their work.

Make it as easy as possible to participate. You would already be asking quite an investment from anyone to produce an all new CGI- shot. EddieDean already has couple of Community Focus Threads for the movies so maybe ask him if he’s willing to help you with this.

PMs sent to Rors and yaoberh.

Looks like I’m late to the party. I’d love a link as well if possible. Thanks!

I don’t get to watch a lot of edits these days, but I did get to sit down and watch this one.

This is a solid concept with the greatest strength being with the FX enhancements. I can say visually this is one of the nicest looking versions of this film.

While I like what’s been removed, I still felt a lot of cringe was left, and this guy personally would have chopped more. But good decisions regardless.

The biggest problem here is the audio issues when cuts are made. If there is any existing music the cuts are made more evident with the abrupt changes in music. The easiest fix would be to add an audio transition in between cuts to smooth these out so that they aren’t obvious.

Outside of that, this is solid and worth a look to see all the improvements.

Solid work. Thanks for sharing.

So without the Skywalkers being enslaved it is very creepy when the Jedi just decide to take Ani away, his mom volunteers him for the podrace because he’s “special” and they are “Jedi.” She is then paid off with a few weeks’ drinking money. You can see the great relief she feels as they depart, yes you literally see the (figurative) burden lift from the actress’s shoulders as they go. When Ani arrives at Coruscant and is getting on the shuttle he acts like he realizes he’s just been trafficked to Epstein Island. Dazman has perhaps unintentionally introduced an entire new subplot to this movie–no, of course it doesn’t go anywhere. Maybe that’s in Episode II.

Anyway, almost all scenes play out better with the changes. New crawl is good and explains everything it needs to. Jedi treaty conference and their escape works better. Boring Naboo council works better. Gungans stuff is a little too abbreviated but Boss Nass seems a lot more serious now, Jar Jar much toned down. Dealing with Watto enjoyably streamlined. Pod race is awesome with the additions and subtractions, but I do still kind of hate the announcer. Threepio won’t be missed. Coruscant to Naboo and End all worked well. Aside from some changes in visual fidelity I never would have realized the lightsaber battle was extended, as it plays out great.

Also never would have realized the audio was mixed and edited to accommodate the changes. It all flowed very well except for a couple times when lines were shortened, there were some brief mute points where the ambiance disappears. There is one new offscreen line from Qui-Gon talking to Shmi that is really lo-fi, I can’t imagine what source that was from.

Other things can’t be helped without much more audio work, and as in all things Star Wars, are a matter of taste. Such as all the atrocious dub actors and Queen Amidala’s “accent.” These days I guess you could just replace the Queen’s voice with an AI trained on Portman’s real voice, copying the line reading so it all stays in lip sync. (Maybe that will be my project here one day.) I’ve read about but not seen edits that replace the Neimoidian and Gungans voices with subtitled alienspeak, which might be a good fit for a project like this. Well, getting back to what is and not what isn’t…

This edit was cool and I would recommend. Thanks Dazman.
