This stupid forum won't let me save any edits to my post? Why?

Clearly it is because you are doing it wrong.

Thanks for visiting our stupid forum!

He apparently figured it out the minute after that post.

I saw this flick during my little hiatus from this site. Thought I'd share my thoughts.

Didn't like it.

I don't think much of the anger directed at Lucas is fair.

If someone is a weirdo who collects 75 different Darth Vader dolls, or feels he's supposed to, and is angry about it, that's not Lucas's fault. Nor is it his fault if you obsessively collect the EU and don't like it.

If the Prequals aren't to your liking, well, that IS Lucas's fault, but it's not a personal thing. Lots of filmmakers are disapointing sometimes. You don't see "People vs. Ed Burns" for how boring his movies all were.

If the concept of midichlorians offends you somehow, that is also technically Lucas's fault, but again, how pissed can you be about a fictional virus thing?

I don't like that what I see as the only real gripes against Lucas (suppression of the OT, his documented untruths) is grouped in with a lot of (for lack of a better word) silliness.

Actual concern for film preservation and cultural heritage shouldn't be mixed with asshats singing "George Lucas Raped My Childhood."

Perhaps a more specific documentary will address this subject in the future.

i haven't seen this movie so I don't know if it was addressed but a huge part of disgust, speaking for myself, are the untruths - documented and undocumented (but extremely obvious).

lucas did not have a PT visualized in his mind dating back to 1980 and he was not honest about this.  There was no PT and everything was made up, many times on the fly.

He also kept hammering the talking point about story and characters when the evidence shows he couldn't care less about this.

combined that with the fact that he didn't put a serious effort in writing and directing and also his refusal to release the OOT - including library of congress.

If at least the OOT issues are minimally addressed in the movie, than thats a huge dissapointment.

Actual concern for film preservation and cultural heritage shouldn't be mixed with asshats singing "George Lucas Raped My Childhood."

um... you're joking about that last part right?  is this true?  there is actually a song called this?

click here if lack of OOT got you down

Doesn't really matter.

Now THAT matters.  Although, the fact that he hasn't sent ninjas to the Czech republic to take out Harmy tells me that there is still good in him.

Sadly, there is.  I'm sure you can find it on YouTube.  Funny thing is, it's not a bad tune, the lyrics are mildly amusing and the musicianship is pretty good. But it has done a good deal of damage as folks such as at OT.com tend to get unfairly associated with it.

Even though the band obviously believes in the anti-Lucas crticism, I actually thought it was sort of mocking the whole thing at the same time, to show how absurd and silly it all is. It's clearly meant to be played for laughs. It's a very Flight of the Concords-ish piece.

Um, thanks a lot for that notion... ;-)

Sorry, but I love that song and have to start singing it every time I read the phrase (which is very often on this site and 99% of the time it's someone complaining about it.) Hell, I'm singing it right now! It's a catchy tune!

This is a major part of why OOT fans get such a bad rap, I think, and with all of the things like this, I kind of understand why.

I, even further behind the times than theBoost, also just saw this.

1. I think the commentary with the filmmakers was much better than the film.

2. I think the "fans" came across as ridiculous.  I think there is a very logical, emotions-in-check story here, but I think it got lost with the crying/yelling fans.  Sure those guys make up a portion of the fanbase... but I personally loathe association with them.  Or, at least, don't like their rants being taken as representation of my opinion.  I think the filmmakers, as presented on the commentary, seem to get my intentions here.  I'm disappointed the film itself doesn't.

3. The Gary Katz stuff on the DVD special features was the best.
