RotJ:

Luke arrives to Vader unarmed, takes Vader’s saber to attack Sheev, Vader defends with Obi-Wan’s lightsaber.

End on Luke burning Vader’s body

Why shouldn’t Luke attack with Obi Wan’s blade?
After all, Obi wan and Yoda ask him to fight Vader and Luke dropping the saber would conclude this conflict well.

On the other hand: what would be the motivation for Vader to fight with the very weapon that made him the machine he is?
Is it him holding on to the though of himself as irredeemable?

It’s because the teaser poster was really cool, and people want to make recreations of that.

Also having the hero wield a red saber and the villain blue is a good subversion of expectations.

I’m curious about upgrading the Hayden ghost to not be a head swap/convey the same warmth and pride as Shaw.

With NFBisms’ Hayden knowledge and Jonh’s VFX editing skills, I think it would be possible. It’d be a nice alternative to just bringing back Shaw.

It would be against my religion to feature it in the movie, but I’d be curious and pleased to see a well done version of the idea.

Well done. I will disengage self-destruct initiative.

We could try EbSynthing Hayden’s face onto Shaw’s. God knows that never goes horrifyingly wrong. For better results, we could try a Deepfake.

Star Wars has all kinds of Deepfake potential. Once it progresses to be easier to apply, there’ll be lots of fun to be had. Not least is to mix and match Anakins all around. Shaw in the prequels, Hayden in ROTJ? Guinness in ROTS? Owen and Beru swapping between prequels and ANH?
Undo Palpatine’s monster face in ROTS?

Well done. I will disengage self-destruct initiative.

Don’t forget sade1212’s Hayden ageing to make him in his late 40s instead of early 20s.

Well, your Yoda EBSynth tests looked pretty dang good. Heck, the TPM puppet one is useful for the ketamine/2001 Honda Civic/offensive memes.

These tools seem very useful for these fixes to bad makeup, making characters’ appearances consistent, and just doing weird stuff. Heck, EBSynth and Deepfakes could give us Lego Star Wars: The Weirdest Trip Ever! 🤤

But back to the idea at hand, Frankenstein-ing footage and making it work through VFX (perhaps with sade1212’s age-up) would be a good way to go about it, along with a few other tricks (EBSynth, Deepfake, etc.). Like I said, “just bring back Shaw” is too limiting. We have Adywan’s ESB Emperor and people using Battlefront II clips to improve Morrison’s Fett, so it’d be nice to have the “improved 2004 changes” hat trick.

Someone improved the Morrison ESB Fett?

This guy does some decent work with lines from Battlefront II that Morrison recorded. Ignore the lines the editor added outside of the four primary spots, as a super-talkative Fett isn’t that great. The third Fett line is a bit awkward, but I’m sure it can be fixed with an entirely separate line/better blending between the two sources. The comparisons later in the playlists do have more faithful recreations of those lines (e.g., “As you wish.”).

I’d suggest looking into the Bounty Hunter game or any number of places where Morrison has played a Fett to get the lines, as it has to be better than the '04 recordings.

I wanna see Han NOT get frozen in TESB in a believable way & completely remove the Toatooine scenes in ROTJ

Does someone know where to find isolated clone trooper dialogue? (can be Temuera Morrison or Dee Bradley Baker)

I wanted to match the old Rebel guy on Endor with Captain Rex, by dubbing him with one clone line after Han gives him some orders while he goes to find Leia. The soldier’s face is conveniently looking away from the camera when he nods, so it won’t cause lipsyncing issues.

I tried looking around for Battlefront II clone trooper voice lines, but I found nothing similar to “affirmative”, “yes sir” or “right away sir”.

I kinda wanna see someone deepfake Episode IV Luke onto Luke’s first appearance in Episode V, before he gets scratched by the Wampa.

You’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Am I making Carrie Fisher’s ghost proud?”
Well, are ya, punk?

Has anyone thought about editing Han and Leia’s kiss scene in ESB to make it less… outdated?

Not sure if you’ve ventured into the deep, dark depths of the Prequel Radical Redux thread recently…

Thankfully there were a couple people who did a bit of encouraging for a cleanup so things are better now.

You mean the people trying to add sex scenes to AOTC?
Because I was kind of suggesting the opposite: Han comes across as a bit… predatory in that ESB kiss scene so I was thinking of cutting it down.

Hey, the Anakin/Padme scene is a decent idea. The editor has done a good job making it less explicit, and it’s a nice way to add some actual intimacy to their relationship.

Yes, I would appreciate anything that removes the “no means yes” aspect to that romance.

Or maybe just have 3PO’s virgin alarm go off which is why he enters the scene.
