The problem is that good 'ol Lucas doesn't label it as the Special Edition anymore. You have to find ones that were released in 1995 or before. Any others, although not labelled, are SE's, which IMO, is misleading and false advertising. Which brings up another topic. George has said that if people want the original versions, they can buy them on VHS. Well, I don't know about you folks, but I sure as hell can't find them.

These are original...although fulscreen

Try this link,The SE videos are usually in the silver or gold packaging and/or with new looking artwork,The Theatrical films are sometimes advertised as such and use the older looking theatrical artwork and they should anyway be a description on the ad what version it is, or if you want to get the Thetrical films on DVD go and have a look in the preservation forums.

or you can check out the preservation forums here and obtain a fan edit DVD. It's not illegal as long as no net profit is involved for the "Seller"

This page of most of my UK PAL VHS tapes may be of some use to you.

From what I have seen, the 1997 and 2000 Special Edition covers are fairly universal around the globe. The original releases, up to 1995 (as stated above) were fairly random for different markets.

I do not have a clue what covers you would have in Sweden although I have seen other European PAL covers that were the same as the UK versions but with French and German writing on them.

For comparison, the US NTSC releases are listed here.

Glad to see that another Swede has found his way here! Skål!

We got a few different VHS releases here in Sweden... The ones I´ve got has Alvin artwork on them (I think they are from -95) and the other VHS-set I've got is in a silver box with Vader artwork and these are the 97-SE. I cant manage to fin my old bootleg tapes anymore, I think I did loose them when I moved to my current appartment... I divided all my VHS-tapes in two big blac plastic bags, one bag to keep and one bag to throw away... And I keept the wrong one, so alot of my old treasures are gone

Anyway... back on topic... I saw a set of the -95 Alvin style trilogy at www.tradera.se a few days ago, take a look there.

When in doubt, try ebay.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.
