"DUNE" the "Fanfiltration edit"
It combines the two existing versions of the 1984 film, to make a much better movie IMHO.
My goal was fixing the horrible edit job done on the T.V. footage, plus adding the "blue within blue eyes" where it was missing. In many places, scenes have been reedited to try and faithfully reconstruct David Lynch’s original vision of the film using the December 9, 1983 shooting script as a guide. I bet Universal did nothing at all to the T.V. version but crop it to look like it's 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. MCA Video did that with the Battlestar Galactica movie a few years ago.
My fan edit is presented in a “Pan & Scan” format; as no widescreen footage of the extended cut scenes is available at the current time of this reedit production. Yes the video looks kinda bad, but the Pan & Scan laserdisc is not the best quality, and let's not talk about how bad the T.V. print is. This was the best I could do with what is out there. This is my first edit too.

Here is a preview of my menus:

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK REQUEST

I could be going out on an idiot limb here, but here goes:

Even since seeing the section of 'Making Raiders' where the film is shown in sepia tones, I've been dying to see the film that way. It had a really cool 1930's vibe to it, which is appropriate.

What are the odds someone could make a version of 'Raiders' with:

-Sepia tone/B&W
-Film scratches
-Mono audio to match the picture.

Anyone else think this is a cool idea? Any takers?

That's a neat idea, and one really not hard to do. If you dropped the flick into Premiere or Final Cut, you could do that real easy.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I don't know if I would want to watch the whole thing that way. It would be cool maybe to have the opening sequence in the South American tomb done up as a seperate serial. Maybe someone should make an old timey opening crawl for it like the old saturday morning serials.

One could chop it into a few chunks and really make it like an old serial.

Even better. Opening crawls for each one to set the stage.

The serialization is an awesome idea. Provided someone is OK with taking the DVD and making it look all old and grungy.
Author

Might it be better to transfer a slightly degraded VHS if you wanted a grungy look, so that the picture wasn't crystal clear to begin with?

After I started this thread (which has had such a great response they reformatted the forums ) I’ve gotten a lot of emails about the many Edits out there and also about some that are on the way as well as the great emails I’ve also been getting new edits in the mail!!!

To all the Editors and soon-to-be Editors,

Thanks so much for your consideration, it’s been truly wonderful and very entertaining to have the opportunity to watch these incredible fan re-edits; some of which are honestly much better then true Special Edition or Directors Cut releases

I’m in awe at the work that each and everyone of you have done with these reworked masterpieces, and am very honored to have received screener copies from you; and I will do my best to make sure that other fans will be able to download and view these incredible films also!

Again thanks so much!

Rikter

- I will be asking if I can get about 3-5 fan edits up on the newsgroups and torrents over the next two weeks!

NOW ~ I'm starting to want to make an edit now also!!!!

THE EVIL DEAD (The complete trilogy edited into a single film)

Well I gotta say...

Hail to the king, baby!

Now, I know that more then a few of us have sat down with a group of friends, a few pizzas, and unholy quantities of beer (or a box of wine or two,) all with the intention of watching the entire EVIL DEAD Trilogy in one shot ~ But sadly, by the end of the first EVIL DEAD film everyone is too debilitated to even change the movie; especially if you try to take a drink/shoot/toke every time Ash gets whacked in the head!!

Well now there is NO need to get off the couch (or the floor as the case may be) in order to change the disc or the tape, nor do you become distracted by the recaps at the beginning of the second and third acts as it all bleeds seamlessly together now!!

This fan edit of the THE EVIL DEAD Trilogy truly is the Ultimate Experience in Grueling Terror and is a MUST HAVE for any fan.

The DVD’s features:
- The Entire EVIL DEAD Trilogy seamlessly edited into one film
- Anamorphic Widescreen Enhanced for 16x9 Monitors
- 64 well titled and placed chapter stops
- End credits selection page
- Dolby Digital 5.1 audio
- Easter Egg

>>>> GENERAL UPDATE <<<<

Maddie just had another surgery (dental reconstruction) and had a BAD allergic reaction to latex so they're keeping her over night (she's doing well and should be home soon) this has kept us a bit busy and on edge here.

I'll do a update to the first page with some new information on the Edits and such once things return to relative normality.

About the EVIL DEAD aspect ratio descrepancies:

Of the 3, the only one that was INTENDED to be shown in fullscreen is the first one. The other two were shot soft-matte, as many 1.85:1 movies are. That means that all information is recorded, but the director/D.P. shoots for 1.85:1. Often they'll tape cardboard over the parts of the screen that will be cut later, so they can concentrate on the intended frame rather than the extraneous parts. Soft-matte filming is done because that way any fullscreen release won't lose information. However, that's when you get errors like boom mikes falling into frame and such. Nowadays most movies are shot hard-matte (which cuts off the top and bottom of the frame as it is being recorded, so that part of the frame never touches film), because home-video widescreen is more acceptable nowadays.

But anyway, I'd love to see this edit - it sounds awesome. And I'll definitely be checking out that R3 disc ... very intriguing ...

Also, Rikter - I looked at the first post and was very interested in these edits - I hope you'll post them on MySpleen soon, but no rush - you've already done so much for us, how can anyone ask any more of you?

ChainsawAsh and the whole gang -

As I've stated in the past EVERY disc in my collection will make it as an upload to the torrents; to date I've uploaded 42+ DVD's on the torrents. I will continue to upload them as long as I can afford my cable collection so far we've had to lose our premium channels, my tivo service (on the 20hr) and I had to park the Datsun (insurance and gas for two cars is too high for single income).

The best way for you guys to show support is to SEED the DVD's I upload for longer then a few days - I lost my remote site so we can no longer use my friends work to seed with so I can no longer seed for weeks at a time.

Another great way to show support would be to visit my donation page Please click on YODA to help out if you can.

Thanks for all the support on the forums gang!

I love the second evil dead movie "army of Darkness" too bad there is not a special edition on dvd as far as I know.

a for your edit of all three into one movie, someone should do this with back to the future. I would love a fan edit that made Raiders of the lost ark and the last crusade into one movie.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

Army of Darkness is the 3rd Evil Dead film and it (like the other Evil Dead films) has many different DVD releases. Based on the recent release of the Evil Dead II Book of the Dead Edition, it's possible we'll see a new release of Army of Darkness in the future.

I can understand that some people don't like Temple of Doom, but wouldn't editing Raiders and Crusade together be kind of pointless? Plus I think it would make all the similarities between the two more obvious.

That Pulp Fiction sounds very intriguing. I've always dreamed about a chronological cut, and I think I burned myself out on the theatrical version, imagining it more every time. I am currently a non-downloader and can't burn/trade DVD's now, but would love to check that take out whenever, however.

the opening prologue, which I wanted to cut as a split screen with the later scene

What a GREAT idea! Too bad it didn't work out. Would it have been WookieGroomer style?
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.
