I guess Wigginton plays second far more than first, cuz he does have 13. :p
I watched the 30 for 30 special "June 17, 1994" last night and one of the things mentioned was that Griffey had 30 homers by that date! :o I know that year was nutty for homers, but still! I dunno if that's still a record.
Even more amazing is that he's never connected to steroids.
Partly cuz he was tall and lean, unlike some of them?
P.S. Not trying to sound..."funny", but has anyone else noticed how baggy the pants have gotten? They used to be like diving suits. (except for guys like David Wells and John Kruk, of course) Think that has something to do with de-emphasizing the physiques, many of which would draw steroid chants? :p
Remember the good old days when Prince and CC were on the same team?

"CF Vernon Wells had a strong reaction to Sunday's homer by INF John McDonald. "We cried on each others' shoulders for a good 30 seconds," he said. "It was one of the most amazing moments I've seen in baseball. It put everything in perspective on the day and on the game. When that happened, it gave us goosebumps." McDonald's father had died the week before of cancer. McDonald hit his first homer of the season on Father's Day."
I was all set to make fun of this until I read the last two sentences.
Stupid Kevin Gregg...
The guy who let Ryan Franklin get a save?
:p
You are the master of depressing people. A dubious title, to be sure...
Next time there are too many silver linings in the clouds, I'll give you a call, cuz I'm sure you won't be having any of that either. ;)

I've got to watch that thing. That was the day of my highschool graduation.
My lord you are OLD!!
(kidding - I graduated HS in '91)
Mine was around June 17th-ish 1995. I'm sure I could find out the exact date somehow, but meh.
You guys graduated in mid June? Mine was mid May IIRC. I guess my summer rocked more than yours.
See? Always with the one-upmanship. ;) At least we know you're way, WAY older than us.
Older than Fink, Warb, Rip and Strausberg,
Oh...well, Merry Strasmas to you too.
Got another good start from Geinke, and Weaver already has 7 Ks after 3 innings!
Weaver's not on your team in this league - stop confusing me! :p
A strange day in baseball. Zambrano gave up 4 first inning runs, shouted at Derek Lee like a madman in the dugout, and Lou yanked him out of the game. Also, Edwin Jackson of the Diamondbacks threw a no-hitter against the Devil Rays but walked 8 guys!
That's an interesting no-hitter for sure. :)
Apparently Zambrano was sent home after being pulled, and now has been suspended indefinitely. As a Cubs fan, this does not surprise me one bit.
:-(
No decision for Weaver cuz the relievers blew it. B'oh. Still, at least I got 2 wins (3 quality starts), 3 saves and 27 Ks. And you can't say anything about the ERA and such, cuz it was 2.22 and the WHIP was 1.11. ;) Wagner and Rivera both stuck out the side for their saves.
very weird series between the Phillies and the Blue Jays. Its at Citizens Bank Ballpark, but Toronto is the home team. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Toronto, but due to the summit being held there, they moved the series to Philadelphia. But it is still considered a home series for the Blue Jays. The Phillies are wearing their away uniforms, the Blue Jays are wearing their home uniforms. The Blue Jays are using what is normally the Phillies' dugout and the the Phillies are using the away dugout. The Phillies are batting first and the DH is in effect. They even had Canadian Mounties come out to sign "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" in the 7th inning stretch! Very weird to see the Phillies playing in their away in Citizens Bank Ballpark.
Wow, makes me wish even more that I'd watched the game today! :S I'll have to check out the highlights.
I guess this was Halladay's first game against the Jays, right?
I believe so.
