I was thinking about buying a NJO book recently. I've been reading the Dark Force and and Hand of Thrawn series and I'm really liking them.

Shimraa, what are the names of the three "unbarable" NJO books?-- so I'll know to avoid them.

you cant dogde them thou they are part of the story.
the books are laid out like TV series wheree teh eps are stringed together. if you skipp those three books you dont know wtf is going on when you start again. trust me i made that mistake at one point of the series and i realy regret it cus ill never have the same exitment i could have had reading the book that i skiped.

here is an order for you ok
vector prime (good)
dark tides 1 and 2 (GOOD)
balance point (ok)
i for get them nameof the next book but it part of the dueology with jedi eclipse. (good)
on the edge of victory 1 and 2 (GREAT)
star by star( great book) (SPECTAULAR)
dark journey (BAD
behind enemy lines 1 and 2 (GREAT)
traitor( best in the series) (VERY VERY GOOD)
destiny's way(SPECTACULAR)
force heritic 1 2 and 3 ( OMG I HATE THEM BUT THE MUST BE READ)
the final prophasy (GOOD)
the unifying force. (SPECTAULAR)

I got Vector Prime last week, but I havent read much of it--it seems kind of boring at least compaired to Timothy Zahn's novels.

But from your list it appearantly gets better. Thanks.

Hey everyone!

Yeah, I've read all of NJO. They weren't too bad! While they were no where near the quality of say The Han Solo Trilogy, they were pretty good. They even threw crap at the fan and changed/killed off people!

That said, there is one minor disappointment of the series: I knew how it was going to end from the very first book on. I won't spoil it for anyone who has never read them, but basically I was reading the books just waiting for the characters to figure out what I had.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

Well I finished Vector Prime a few days ago and I actually liked the last half of the book a whole lot. If anything, Salvatore made bad guys that are easy to hate, although I wish that Luke had lopped Yomin Carr's head off--rather than--what happened to him.

just you wait Nom Anor is one of the best if not the best villians i have ever known. he in my opinion is up there with DV. there are point when you really want him to become good just cus of the way he is, and other times when what he does is so evil you want him to die in that book. he is truely the main villian of that series and is fantasic.

You mean Nom Anor survives most of the series--or all of it??? Dang it...

Still. The ending of VP was quite satisfying. Unfortunately I've been unable to return to the book store. (out of town. Bleh)
I was having EU withdrawl syndromes and had to play Rogue Leader (a game I hate) to get a fix... LOL.

That's actually where I am at the moment. I started when Vector Prime came out, read through Dark Tide, than stopped as I fell out of Star Wars. I recently read the next two, and am now on Balance Point, but again have fallen into other things. I'm painfully behind on my SW reading for the first time since I began. I'd discuss, but I've had way too many spoilers for that series at the moment.

yes you do for sure. after Balancce point the books become un-put-down-able. so youll catch up pretty fast. when you get to STAR BY STAR that is when youll get the big development. and wee can talk after that with out giving away too much.

Ok, now that I am back from Raleigh, where I read the five NJO books after Vector Prime, I wan't to know if anything important happens in Edge of Victory, or can I just skip to Star by Star so I can get....

--Spoiler-- avoid the rest of this post!!

WHO TOLD YOU THAT!!!!!

anyway no you should read the edge of victory books cus they are very important for tahiri's charater. and also they really make star by star a whole lot personal. i remeber when i first fould out what you did, it was after i read the edge of victory books, and let me tell you i almost felt like crying cus it was so sad. it all really pissed me off that they did so much set up for anakin make you think one things and then turn it around 360 degrees.

No one told me... I was looking at the Guide to the Characters at Barnes and Noble and just read it. I didn't know it would spoil something like that

I mean that happening never occurred to me at all...

And also... who the heck is Tahiri? It would seem to me she came out of nowhere (I just finished the first Edge of Victory today) and was suddenly Anakin's best friend...

But I had never heard of her...

i wondered that tooo but i dismissed it cus NJO are the first star wars books that i have read
Author

Yeah, the updated Guide to Characters spoiled that for me too. Not to mention.....

the fall of Coruscant, death of Fey'lya(I wanted to celebrate that when it happened T_T, annoying little Bothan), and quite a few others.

yeah coursant gets pretty shit kicked. since you alreaddy know that it is taken ill tell you the extient to what is done to it:

they distroy one of its moons and create a ring, the buildings them selves are covered in a type of fungus planet wide that eats durocrete, so inother worlds the planet is literaly turned to rubble, the also change it orbit around the sun so that it is much closer to its sun. and if i recall they even change the sky colour. we are talking a complete and utter erasal of the planet. and it is indistingashable with its previous state. they rename it yuzuntar as well.
