Isn't it only available on newsgroups? I thought that was the only way to get HD films.

If there's another way, please let me know

Alt.Binaries.Hdtv was the only source i was aware of.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to sites... but there is a site for HD torrents... and it is named by putting the Hi-Def acronym in front of 'bits', followed by a suffix that starts with ".o"

To contact me outside the forum, for trades and such my email address is my OT.com username @gmail.com

Not much good. As when one tries to sign up, One gets this message "We are a private site now and require an invite to join. Please do not request to be invited on non-invite forums, thanks. "

Few months back - grabbed one thing, very obscure and then was harangued since having left the torrent active for 5 days and no-one else wanted it "only" had a ratio of 65%

I've had good luck with newsgroups in the past, esp for the HDTV content. The big problem
is the files are so darn large. As soon as i get my pc optimized here, and do a backup, i'll
grab the full files. I have no problem sending copies to folks, as long as they provide the
blank media.

Looking at the image filesize, I'd say that the pixellation is caused by JPG compression, and may not be present in the MPEG source.

heh. It is absolutely because of the exported JPEG. The stream itself is as clear as day. I have found obtaining a useable screencap of 1080i source to be daunting, at the very least.

Update on DVD convert : Let's just say that converting an HD stream to VOB's - without butchering the video quality - is not an easy task. I believe I now have the appropriate tools to accomodate a proper conversion. Setting goal date for completion for end of the month (LOTS of other projects on my plate).

Its up on a.b.dvd and a.b.dvdr now! All we need now is some sweet custom case artwork! Something that will reflect the new HD conversion quality of this master.

For those interested, Don May Jr. of Synapse Films mentioned on the DEADPIT radio show yesterday (1/11/2007) that "The Monster Squad" will be released officially to DVD sometime this year. He mentioned that the studio that is releasing it (presumably Paramount - he didn't say) is shooting for April/May.
