Very interesting theory, but since she was just shot in the back in the latest episode without much attention being paid to it… I’m inclined to believe she’s just an Imperial officer.
Deep fake in this case went a tad too uncanny valley for me.
I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.
Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

If you haven’t seen this yet you should. The motions are still a bit off but it’s miles better in my eyes.
EDIT: didn’t see idir_hh’s post before this 😉
EDIT2: still think Shamook’s is best

Has The Mandalorian Been Hiding A Star Wars Rebels Character In Plain Sight?

A bit far fetched IMO, but hardly impossible considering all the recent announcements (especially the Ahsoka series).

Ehhh, I’d say that’s a little impossible.

Yeah but it doesn’t make sense why they would hire a martial artist to play such an insignificant role

I just re-watched the scene were they take the bridge and I couldn’t see her in it, though it is a bit hard to make out faces some times. However, there’s no clear shot of her being killed.
I personally think it’s a bit of an odd casting for Sabine anyway, so probably just a SW fan casting (like Paul Sun-Hyung Lee), though it could work, and it would be a fun way of sneaking the character into live-action.

I think anyone’s face looks odd if you stare at it long enough. I dare say this will be scrutinized more than any other. I guess I’m more forgiving. TV shows have come a long way from Buck Rogers and the original Battlestar Galactica. I didn’t have a problem with Tarkin or Leia in Rogue One and I don’t mind this either.
They don’t look perfects and we’re likely years away from any technique coming close. Between now and then I applaud the efforts to get us there.
I’d rather have what we got than nothing at all.

She might be someone’s friend or cousin who happens to be a martial artist…

Or maybe she’s a big SW fan and managed to convince them to give her a minor role in the series.

Eh. I was more at stage one after kind of enjoying the robot scenes.

Or she was doing stunts without getting any screen time herself and they gave her a cameo.

This is actually the likeliest explanation.
Or they hired her simply for her physicality? She quite convey the might of the Empire. You don’t want a thin actress that would look like a pin-up in uniform!
Maybe but I still have a feeling we’ll see her again. They wouldn’t introduce her like they did pointlessly (chekhov’s gun)

I don’t think for a moment she was Sabine, but yeah I found curious that the one Imperial villain with speaking lines besides Gideon died an offscreen death.
People keep using the phrase “trained martial artist” as if it means anything. Especially coming out of Hollywood…
And even if she does have authentic martial arts training, why does that make everyone think that she must be cast with the intent of using that skillset? Actors often have wide ranges of experiences in their backgrounds that may or may not come into play for any given role…

Of course she doesn’t have to, but Gina Carano is a martial artist and Sasha Banks is a WWE wrestler, and they’ve both got to show off in hand-to-hand fight scenes. You could hire an actor, but when you hire someone who can act AND fight well… you’re getting an added bonus you might as well use, and they might be able to charge more because of it!

I think it’s because we’re used to seeing actors with a martial arts background play characters defined by their stunts and fight scenes (ex. Ray Park, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen), and being a more showy skillset, it would be far more requested in a casting call for an action/fantasy franchise than, lets say, playing the piano.
So, R2 is totes the one who saved Grogu at the Jedi Temple, right?
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
So many reaction videos of grown adults bursting into tears several times during the season 2 finale. I love seeing people react to Star Wars that way.
Very interesting and some very valid points. Maybe goes a bit off track and overboard in the second half of the analysis though.
