I mean, he was mortally wounded and nearing death. He has few options in that moment. Kill Droid and also die, which also means the Child dies. Or, trust the trust the non-living droid to nurse his wound, therefore also increasing the likelihood of the Child surviving. Coming back from near death is an easy to change someone’s mind/perspective.

I think the next season is going to have to do some light-to-heavy lifting on educating its characters (and by extension, its audience) on how understandably-yet-weirdly misinformed they are about the larger galaxy. I think it’s great that these people are mystified and bewildered about the larger truths of the universe they occupy. Yoda’s species (and Jedi in general) are considered an “Enemy sorcerers,” the Mandalorians themselves operate under a code that obviously wasn’t being observed by the larger Mandalorian people as little as a decade prior to this show’s beginning.
The Darksaber’s presence hints that those discoveries are coming, and I think the one-two reality-shaking revelations for Din and co. are going to provide a lot of dramatic opportunities I hope the creators are up to the task of exploring. It’s a really cool hook they’ve provided, because it puts the audience members one up on the characters they’re watching, and that can make for some very satisfying storytelling depending on how they ratchet up the tension in those revelations coming to fruition.

^ you beat me to that post Tobar ! Ever since reading that novel and the original Marvel series , I wanted to see an army of Mandalorians in live action . I was hoping we would see that in the prequels long before they came out and am guessing many fans did too .
We already had seen his face. Admittedly he was a bit young, but technically the reveal happened very early in the series.
Ep. 8 was probably my least favorite. The effects were a bit cheesy in spots, and the dialogue was forced sometimes. But this was a wonderful series, and I’ll probably go back and re-watch them all.

I don’t totally disagree with you, but Boba Fett the mystery man is much more interesting than him being part of a group who all act & dress up the same. The more we know, the less interesting he becomes.
But that’s a whole other topic.

The novelization says Fett wore a suit of Mandalorian armour. That’s not the same thing as saying he’s a Mandalorian himself. Fett being a Mandalorian was a later EU invention, and even that was undone by Lucas in TCW.

I finally had a chance to catch up on the final two episodes last night after a busy but fun “Good old fashioned family Christmas”, to quote Clark Griswald.
Dang! That was an amazing season finale! The last two episodes really delivered. This show is everything that new Star Wars content should be. As much as I’ve enjoyed the sequel trilogy, Star Wars just isn’t quite Star Wars without the Empire and classic OT designs for troops and vehicles, etc.
Felt sorry for Ugnolte but I was glad to see the show isn’t afraid to put its characters in real danger. And who doesn’t love IG-11’s role and sacrifice? That droid was flipping incredible!
It’s gonna be a long wait until fall for season 2!
The beauty of The Mandalorian:
Man, I’ve watched the last episode three times. Fantastic story, everyone shines, but Ms Carano really shines. Her best work yet. The scene where she’s talking to Mando and reaches behind his head to comfort him and pulls her hand back realizing how badly he’s injured - one of the best scenes of the entire season. She portrays a realistic mix of emotions where she’s struggling between helping him and breaking down. Outstanding subtlety on her part. Top notch. I love her in this episode. She’s becoming one of my favorite characters. I suspect we’ll see her again next year.
Happy New Year. Just saw the first 4 episodes at my friend’s place. Overall I thought it was good, but not great. Some random thoughts:

Finally a Star Wars project that satisfies and really is good.
Something that is not "over the top’ with ridiculous action set pieces remains grounded and believeable.
I hope for this formula going forward as one to trust and admire as getting things right for a change. It’s not flawless but it is very good entertainment.

I really liked that Goransson never went to the Williams scores. I thought for sure he might have been saving a motif (probably the Force theme) for the final episode for maximum impact, but he never did. And I think that’s great.
I agree. This exists separate from The Saga and is scored accordingly. Digging the score, by the way.
Also, I’ve now watched episodes 7 & 8 four times. The series ended on a definite high note.
I finally caught up. 7 and 8 really do kick the show into another register. I’m curious what season 2 will bring though I imagine it’ll probably be more one off adventures, which is fine and fun. I definitely worry a bit about the tie in to the larger saga. Besides the fact that it makes no sense, I like the idea of people who have literally never heard of the Jedi, but the idea of them potentially encountering Luke and co. is a little frustrating, as the series’s disconnect from the big saga stuff is part of the appeal. We’ll see, I kind of doubt they’ll do that anyway.
