Any word of a physical release? I can’t find anything out there. Same with Clone Wars.

Luke astro-projects himself to Salt Lake Planet, gets shot at by gorilla walkers, has a non-lightsaber duel with Darth Millennial, then dies of a broken heart, inspiring broom boys throughout the galaxy to get creative with their sweeping. - DuracellEnergizer

Not yet mate.

A few people seem to think we may see a blu ray release around the time the 2nd season of The Mandalorian airs on Disney+ - in October?

(which kind of makes sense - lots of Season 1 blu rays in the shops and online… with large stickers on the boxes with ‘Season 2 out now - only on Disney+’ text on them…)

Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why not say something righteous & hopeful for a change?

Forgive me if these things have been discussed before, but I just started watching the Mandalorian “Disney Gallery” making-of show and noticed some really cool bits.

One, there’s some short but great behind-the-scenes footage from the OT that’s clearly been restored in HD or better. Makes me wonder what else they’ve got tucked away in their archives. FWIW this footage may have already been seen in some of the previously released BD or 4K disc sets. I’ve never bothered to watch any of those special features and only watched a few of the OT deleted scenes.

In one episode they show the original Death Star explosion! I haven’t gone back to rewatch it and more closely scrutinize it (was it HD or just an old master upscaled?). But hey, they actually not only acknowledged it. They showed it! In an official Lucasfilm product!

There are actual motion-control shots of spaceship miniatures! They even talk about how it actually costs more to do that than CGI now, but the filmmakers wanted it so bad they managed to make a “Low budget garage version” of the dykstraflex to make those shots happen.

I’ve got a few more episodes to go but it has made me love the show even more. The people working on this show clearly understand what went right for the OT to capture lightning in a bottle, so to speak, and are doing an amazing job expanding (rather than shrinking…) the Galaxy far far away. I can’t help but feel this is the team that should’ve been in charge of the ST.

Probably just and oversight since Empire of Dreams has been given it’s own Special Edition treatment with a disclaimer. There doesn’t seem to be any clear control over which OT clips are allowed and when, which is kind of strange. Maybe they just want the lines to be intentionally blurry.

We got confirmation a couple years back that the LFL archive has been digitizing their entire video collection. There’s been a couple cool instances of new never before seen footage popping up since then. The Making of TROS for example has BTS footage from ROTJ that had never been released before. It really is exciting to think about what other treasures they have at their finger tips now.

Yeah they talked about the miniature work at Celebration before the series was released. That’s what got me the most hyped about the series. The revelation that there was actually a stop motion shot of a blurrg in the show sent me over the moon.

Yeah Filoni and Favreau have a clear and deep passion for Star Wars and I really hope they get more say over its future.

Man, I was truly impressed by Filoni’s passion and understanding of the GFFA. I’ve known who he is on a surface level for years, but this is my first real exposure to him as a person and creator. I don’t agree with everything he says and he’s far more of a PT apologist than I’ll ever be, but he clearly “gets it” and he obviously completely loves the material and what he’s getting to do with it. Heck, at one point as he was explaining how Qui-gon was the father Anakin needed but never got and tied it into Anakin’s fall and all the way thru the end of ROTJ I was sitting there thinking, “crap, this is amazing stuff. Maybe i should rewatch the PT with these ideas in mind.”

Yeah I’ve been a fan of Dave’s for years now. All of his interviews where he gets to deep dive into Star Wars are great.

’The Mandalorian’ Most In-Demand Original Across New Streaming Services

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/mandalorian-demand-original-new-streaming-services-report-says-1306170

“Third-party measurement firm Parrot Analytics has compared the launch weeks of Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max and Peacock, looking at how demand for their original shows stacked up against average demand for U.S. TV shows.”

“The company found that The Mandalorian was far and away the most anticipated of all streaming shows. The Jon Favreau drama, which is set in the world of Star Wars, was made available on Disney+'s Nov. 12 launch day. Demand for the show was more than 55 times higher than the average TV series during that same week.”

“The Mandalorian is in a class of its own,” says Alejandro Rojas, director of applied analytics at Parrot."

I’m gonna be honest, Mando is overrated. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not great. I wouldn’t put it above the first three Disney era films.

I’d recommend watching the series again. Or at least Smudger9’s edit where he combines the first season into 1 film. The first time I watched the series I must admit I thought it was honestly just ok. But recently rewatching it I’ve come to appreciate a lot of the subtle storytelling. Mando and what he calls “the way” are completely deconstructed throughout the entire season. He really learns through Kuill and Baby Yoda that there actually CAN be another way to live. That violence and covering up who you are don’t have to be the answer to everything.

I understand your point of view, but I seriously think on closer examination you can get a lot from the storytelling in Mando. Filoni and Favreau know what they’re doing (I think). I pretty much feel like it’s the opposite of Rogue One. Like R1 was incredible the first time, and then you rewatch it, and it’s hard to enjoy the story itself on a deeper level.

Probably an odd thing to single out from the whole trailer, but the docks with all the Quarren looks really cool. And for some reason I really like the idea of simple boats in SW. Fauvreau doesn’t overthink SW like some people tend to do; so the ‘fish people’ live in a port town surrounded by fishing nets and boats. Nice and simple space fantasy.

Also, am I the only one who for a moment thought the Bantha was speaking here; https://youtu.be/eW7Twd85m2g?t=35

Same!

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

I think the Jedi in the trailer is most likely there to throw us off. Inside the universe its only really been 5 years since the downfall of the empire. I don’t think there are any Jedi besides Luke. I’m guessing she is an agent of Moff Gideon. Inquistor???
