Yep, that pretty much covers his motive. The latter covers almost all his motives. He even went as far as considering adding that scene where Fett survives to the ultra-special edition, "because of the fans." Yeah, right. More like because of marketing. There are a lot of things he could do "for the fans," but has done very little of that.

The Boba Fett debate is a moot point because if you accept official canon, then he lived, but if you accept official canon then you also by definition accept the prequels, which made Fett into a totally uncool kiwi clone, which in turn means any care for the character that we may have had is gone, so whether he died or not doesn't matter. He's about as cool as Yak Face now. In fact, maybe Yak face has a really cool history that we can only guess at and as yet hasn't been pissed on by the prequels. Yak Face is my new hero. And let's be honest, if you take just the movies and not the books etc that padded out the character, Mace Windu is pretty lame too. He's basically a stubborn Jedi who seems to do nothing but reiterate plot points with yoda and be a dick to Anakin.

War does not make one great.

True. But when it comes down to it, you can just accept what you want. Some want Fett to live, so they accept all the EU except the prequels. Why? They think he's a badass and want him to live saying "no way he died, he can't, he's Boba Fett." And then they don't like his back story so they don't accept it. It's kind of like Lucas. He accept almost none of the EU part of canon, but yet does accept some (Coruscant, Aayla Secura). They pick and choose.

It seems like to me that Lucas made more of a point to show the deaths of Mace Windu and the Jedi in the prequels after the EU got a hold of Fett. From the few interviews I've heard, Lucas seemed annoyed that Fett was brought back, even if he did approve his use. So characters like Mace Windu was given more definite ends. The character this really shows up with is Aalya Secura, the blue twilek female jedi. The clonetroopers were shown blasting her to nothing, I would think to specifically keep her from showing up in future EU books/comics, etc. Windu is gone, and hopefully some EU story won't ressurect him. I also agree that he wasn't as great of a character as he could of been/was lead to believe he would be. So I don't really want to see more of him.

We'll just have to wait and see what the old Lucas marketing machine throws at us!

The PT Yoda seems to be a real prick as well. Half the time it seems that Anakin probably wouldn't have gone to the Dark Side if Yoda and Mace Windu didn't constantly force unnecessary conditions upon Anakin: "uhhh...the Jedi Code says you can't think like that...oh, or that, you can't do that either...yeah, that's the Code." And then they didn't discipline Anakin when he actually did do something wrong. Like slaughtering sand people - women and children. We don't know whether or not they knew, but Yoda at least felt the suffering caused by Anakin, and heard Qui-Gon's voice saying "No, Anakin!". And then they didn't trust Anakin when he tells them that Palpatine is a Sith Lord - even though they told Anakin to spy on him and didn't trust Palpatine in the first place!

Oh yeah, back to the topic. If I had my way, the O-OT would be the only thing that is accepted as canon. That way, Boba wouldn't be a Kiwi clone, the Jedi wouldn't be arrogant pricks, and Jar Jar wouldn't even exist.
MTFBWY. Always.

If I was Anakin, I would have went after Yoda first. He would have pissed me off most.

If I were a character in the GFFA, I would either be a Dark Jedi (as in a vigilante-type) or a bounty hunter. The jedi and the sith and too narrow minded and strict for my tastes. If I were Anakin, I would learn the force, and use it merely "as a tool," as the guy in Broken Allegiance says it is. The bounty hunter in that fan film just learned how to use the force, and used it as he saw fit. Now that's a force user!
