The Liam Neeson Mystery (spoilers within but questions answered)

OK, where was Qui-Gon and what the heck what Yoda going on about? Let me take you, if I may, to the official illustrated ROTS screenplay... in which we discover that mysteries of the Force abound and that Yoda can become a dead Jedi's bitch...

The plus:

A real bonafide mention of the WHILLS!!!! WHOOO-HOOOO!!!!!

The minus:

"Your bitch I now become, yes. Even though brought the little pecker who kicked our asses and the Gungan that basically created the Empire, you did."

To my knowledge this scene was filmed (per interviews with Neeson) and whill (get it?... har har) probably show up on the DVD.

What about the DLP version? Is this in it?

Of course elsewhere in the script, our boy Jar-Jar has dialogue too! Heh heh.

I really gotta pick up that scriptbook, there seems to be a lot of stuff that got cut.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

I think it was only released in PDF format, for like 4 bucks.

OK, so I suppose the scene stayed in the movie as it is because Liam Neeson didn't want to make a cameo. Way to go, GL.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

If he didn't want to make a cameo, why shoot the footage and get paid for it?

Is there an answer to this question, because those last two responses didn't make sense to me.

The scene is apprantley shot, because Yoda meditating is in there and makes completely no sense without the voiceover. I can only hope this will be added to the DVD or the much needed Special Editions of these films to fix plot and CGI errors that could make these films enjoyable. As we've seen with MF's edits, there is still good in these films, I know it. Lucas just needs to find it.

Back to this, Qui Gonn is one of my FAVORITE characters in all of the saga, and this deletion is upsetting. Does anyone know if Neeson actually was involved, or if he refused or what it is. His voice was used in AOTC as Yoda meditates as we hear him scream "Anakin, NO!". I really believe it was merely cut for pacing to just end the film after the climactic battle and not add another 45 minutes of film after that.

But maybe a Director's Cut DVD could bring that and the Yoda Dagobah scene's back into the film.

If anyone finds news on this cut, please do share. I am VERY interested.

Just to give you an idea, I can confirm the shooting of these deleted scenes because they are in Behind the Scene docs on StarWars.com and in the various trailers:

As for this one, I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I'm sure it refers to the scene in the trailer in which the Imperial shuttle type vehicle and the TIE type vehicles are seen flying towards a planet. I could be wrong.

7, 8-14, 25, 30, 32, 37-41: FedCruiser scenes cut (Grievous killing Shaak Ti, the Jedi using their lightsabers to escape GG, underwater swim, climb through shaft, many of R2's hangar gags, many Palpatine cliffhangers)

Whichever of these two happen in Padme's appartment with Threepo making drinks for everyone was filmed and voice recordings were done by Anthony

60: Bail and fellow Senators speak about the Senate

71: Meeting with Organa, Mon Mothma and Padme

68-69: Obi-Wan tells Padme of his worries about Anakin and that he nows they're in love

88-89: Padme presents to Palpatine the Senators' petition

Oh, I forgot to mention this in any of my posts today/yesterday because of all the excitement!

One thing I was really looking forward to seeing was Shaak Ti! After watching the second season of Clone Wars, I realised that Shaak Ti was one badass Jedi, and I would have LOVED to see her death scene. I was dissapointed when not only did I not get to see her die, but I didn't get to see her at all. I really hope she's in the deleted scenes on the DVD.

Do you know if that scene was filmed? Even if it's just a photo, that's all we really need for confirmation that it exists. That's what makes the Qui Gonn scene so difficult to confirm, as the only way to get know the voiceover exists is to have one of the actors talking about it.

I have no idea if it was actually filmed. That's why I edited my post and worded it differently. I heard rumors and such though, and I just really wanted to see it.

The Shaak Ti scene (which I was also very much looking forward to) was filmed, there was a shot of it in the "Making of Revenge of the Sith" book. I want that book now.

I know I had to explain to some people the entire thing about Qui-Gon...I was hoping they had kept his lines in the movie. But ultimately, it just makes me look forward to the dvds even more.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

I've been looking on the net, haven't found the photo, but apparently one of the Jedi are killed meditating in the Temple by Anakin. So whichever Jedi this is, it is another cut scene.

I downloaded and checked the script for the Shaak Ti kill and I think it's the one you just mentioned, Hardcore. Check it:

From Rick himself:
Quote

When "Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" hits movie screens this month, fans will finally have the opportunity to comprehend the saga of Anakin Skywalker in its entirety. Series mastermind George Lucas said he hopes future generations will watch the prequels and sequels in numerical order, but reports that for now fans will have to continue to purchase each DVD individually if they want the complete set. "At some point," is all Lucas would offer about plans to release a six-DVD box set of the "Star Wars" series. "I am not sure when. First ['Revenge of the Sith'] will probably come out around Christmastime. Then, later on, there will be a six-pack." Before you get ready to storm the gates of Skywalker Ranch, however, you may find your dark side's rage diminishing as you hear about some of the "Sith" disc's bonus features. "There are five or six deleted scenes; they will all be on the DVD," said Rick McCallum, producer of the prequels. "They were great scenes, but they just had nothing to do with getting straight and cutting to the chase of the story. They were more plot-orientated and more setting up of Coruscant, more setting up of the war and kind of understanding where all the politics were." ...

"They were more plot-orientated and more setting up of Coruscant, more setting up of the war and kind of understanding where all the politics were."

Keeping this comment in mind, let's take a look in the "Way Back" machine:
Quote

"The first Trilogy will not be as much of an action adventure kind of thing. Maybe we'll make it have some humor, but right now it's much more humorless than this one...a little more Machiavellian - it's all plotting - more of a mystery." - STARLOG Magazine #48, July 1982
"The prequels will be altogether different in look and tone from the existing trilogy. They will be more melodramatic, showing the political intrigue and Machiavellian plotting that led to the downfall of the once-noble Republic. They will have only enough outward action to keep the plot moving. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader will be seen as younger men, while Luke Skywalker may make a brief appearance as a baby in Episode III." - Lucas, 1983

Oh, you can cut the irony with a knife....

[Yoda] "That...is why you fail" [/Yoda]

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
<span class=“Bold”>JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
<span class=“Bold”>Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.</span>

Rick is off on that number anyways, as there are probably atleast 10 deleted scenes. I will do some screen caps of the stuff from the BTS Docs tomorrow to get this thread really rolling.
