we lose Kylo-Ren’s reaction to what he thinks is his mother’s death, which I think is a very important moment.

That’s a good point, I hadn’t thought about that.

Gabe, I appreciate the any effort to remove Space Walk Leia, but it is a bit too rushed as Poppa brought up, we lose the impact on the timing of the events/scenes that have been swapped around.

At one time I was dabbing around some of the scenes that have leia at the door with her hand out to show she was conscience and all for a bit and survived the attack … but it was hard to time right music wise and visually too.

Finally got a little time to catch up!

jarbear, what you and Hal have done here I think is perfect! I think it addresses the feedback we’ve gotten about the Jedi boy at the end being too out of context. It also gives you more context about Canto Bight which resonates thematically with Finn’s story.

The only thing I wonder about is where you cut Rose’s line about fathiers “I’ve never seen a real one.” It’s not an important line, but I feel like it finishes the moment of her excitement about seeing them, which is why they ran out to the balcony in the first place. I don’t think the line creates any issues? So I may consider putting it back.

Right now, this and the Phasma body add to the shuttle scene are the changes I intend to make for V2.

Here’s a suggestion: when you inserted a reaction shot of Kylo after the cannon fires, there’s some “light” on his face as the door blows up. Can you do the same thing with your edit of the flying Leia scene where Poe and the others are reacting to the ship being hit?

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

Author

That’s not a bad idea. Not sure I can make it convincing, because it’s a wider shot with a window, but it’s worth a shot.

My thinking about Rose’s fathier line is that it originally set things up for her to be thrilled to see one up close and feel outrage at the way they have been treated.
With the line removed in a version of the film without further interactions with fathiers, Rose still seems interested enough in them to facilitate Finn’s scorn as he notices them being electro-whipped without implying there will be anything more to it later on.

If the space horses in IX have anything to do with Rose and it makes sense, I may end up putting her line back in as setup for that. But as things are, I feel better about the line being removed.

My stance on revising fan edits.

That logic makes perfect sense, thanks Hal! That’s probably what I will end up doing as well.

Thanks, Hal! I think I was able to recreate it, but I’ll let you know after I check it a few times.

Had to make an account for this, sounds really good. Could I get a link please?

Work Poppa Work! 😉 To me, personally, I would like those two added things you’ve been talking about to complete the TLJ edit for me! Haha!

Author

Haha! Well, I do have them edited into the sequence currently. Now, I might not have time now to make the master encodes with updated chapters, subs, etc., but would a workprint-type file suffice?

Does it bother you when Han says, “Then I’ll see you in hell!” in The Empire Strikes Back?

Hey man! Loved the edit a ton. There are 2 things that I would think need to be cut just for continuity and for pacing.

1# The final scene that ends on the small children from the horse arena. This makes no sense continuity wise especially with the small ring the boy has, since rose never gives it to him. (I used the 1080p version, if you have edited it out in another version might want to include that in the 1080p one)

2# This is a smaller issue, but for saving the focus and tension of the scene (and my sanity). Please would you cut that small scene with the one rebel fighter next to Gareth Edwards on Crait who out of nowhere comments on the ground with salt (the new coarse and ruff irritating sand).

There are smaller changes from other edits that I do enjoy and think help preserve the dwindling intelligence of the original film such as: cutting the “Oh No” from the very beginning, cutting straight to the star destroyer in the atmosphere (preserve the urgency of the scene), cutting a few of the slap stick level reactions from Admiral Hux from the very beginning, the slapstick porg on the windshield on crait, the “right away sir” after Kilo shoves Hux at the end (funny but it just ruins the atmosphere, SW has always had comedy but taken its character drama very seriously) and the cringy “may the force be with you hehehe you go I’ve said it enough” flub (just cutting to “MTFBWY Always” is plenty) in my opinion.

There are other things that would help the SW canon such as “magnetic mines active” when dropping the bombs such as in Ivan’s version, and the cutting of the “God’s speed rebels” line which bugs me so much (I am even a Christian (or religious) but if you think about this line for even a few seconds it opens a can of worms which asks a crazy question I don’t want asked in a star wars movie…Who is God in Star Wars???). The hyperspace collision is likely unfixable which is so unfortunate since it is the largest open can of worms, but unless I missed something the fact the rebels couldnt contact anyone else in the galaxy while they were on their cruiser being chased is a plot hole (I know they are running out of power but if they have enough for another full light speed jump then they have enough for one phone call to someone to ask them to call everyone else).

Anyway lol I obviously have some problems with the original version, but I really appreciate yours! Thanks for all the hard work and creativity you have put into this.

May the force be with you.

Read Axios edit-suggestion on the previous page. He doesn’t like Holdo saying,“God Speed Rebels” and he thinks it should be removed because it opens up a can of worms, suggesting that our worldly beliefs could be reflected into the SW Universe. It seems to annoy a number of people. I was just curious why people don’t get annoyed when Han say his line in TESB? I think because of the majority of people don’t like Holdo, but obviously love Han. Was just curious of his thoughts on Hans line or anyone thoughts really.

I apologize if I broke a rule of the forum. That just caught my attention.

You didn’t do anything wrong Tammer. To help clarify what you’re referring to, it helps to put what you’re quoting first, followed by your reply. And it helps to quote only the specific paragraph or sentences you’re commenting on rather the entire post as well.

Awesome! Thanks!

So do you have any feelings about my statement?

I personally didn’t have a problem with the God Speed Rebels line regardless. Also, the idea of “opening a can of worms” is irrelevant because of Han’s line in Empire Strikes back anyway as Tammer5 brought up.

@poppasketti Here’s a suggestion: can you remove the “oh no” at the beginning of the film? It disrupts the flow of the scene (seriously, it flows so much better without this) and basically tells us how we should react, when in reality we already know that it’s an “oh no.”

It’s not a bad thought. I’ve seen it before without the line and it does work nicely. I’m not sure that I think it is better, though, just different. The “oh no” does feel Star Warsy to me, if that make sense. Does anyone else like that change?

Here’s a pass at that idea, just adding a little reflection to Poe, Finn, and Billie Lourd.

It’s a small change, but I think it helps the continuity. Thanks for the idea, FreezingTNT2!
