I could get angry at the sheer perversity in this thread but then I remember this forum has a 36-page, nine-year-long topic devoted to restoring Song of the South and this doesn't seem so bad.

I don't see what's wrong with SotS. Yes, it has an inaccurate portrayal of Reconstruction-era formerly-enslaved-but-now-battling-Jim-Crow African-Americans, but it also helps pass on important African-American Uncle Remus folktales and I can't imagine a child forming a negative opinion (or any opinion for that matter) of African-Americans from this at all.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Someone was bashing that thread on Twitter recently, and used nearly the exact same description. How coincidental!

@DanAshTreeLane?

He seems like a real piece of work as well as a few other things I won't say here. I hope he publicly shames me in response to this. Hell, I might get my 15 minutes for defending SotS! Too cool! I can't wait.

I'm @AntcuFaalb, btw. Read my avatar for further instructions.

Yeah, it was very difficult not to want to respond to that rubbish. (Others have been lurking and using our site the same way.) He was just parroting the same things every other person who's never actually seen the movie does.

And everyone, please avoid the temptation to go stir up trouble over there.

This is the GHOOOOST of Spaced Ranger ...    ... he died of shock upon seeing that next eBay listing!  And he's starting to get the hang of this dying thingy!  Just like this thread's subject matter -- it comes in two-o-o-o-os!

At least people can still ride Splash Mountain at the parks, and even get their picture taken with these guys. ;)

 Really, all a proper release would need would be an introduction explaining it and maybe a new MPAA rating.

Which is what they did with the Leonard Maltin intros on the World War II cartoons.

With Disney movies airing on TCM a couple times a year now, I'm hoping they find some way to show it.

No view-counts flying off the board! No panic bids in the last 5 seconds! I  hardly had palpitations! Where was the excitement?!?
[just a moment ... to catch my breath]

Anyone recognize eBay's scrambled handles? Well, maybe the winner is a little embarrassed because (as TV's Frink would put it) boobs.   :)

At least I won a booby prize ... screen-caps!

I managed to find a copy online to watch a couple months ago. The quality wasn't HD or anything, but it was serviceable. I honestly found it a beautiful movie; those who call it racist are either overtly-sensitive members of the PC police or haven't even seen the movie in the first place.
