Smaller budget doesn’t preclude out of US filming. GOT films all around the world with a similar price tag.

That said, a Kenobi series could easily film in the states.

Also, truth is that a Kenobi miniseries probably makes more sense than a movie in a lot of ways.

I’ll bet a TV-to-movie fan edit of a Kenobi project would be superior to a film made as a film to begin with. A series has less pressure to be big and fast and dumb.

Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here?
And say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Agreed

I can answer almost all questions anyone might have about the Sith from Star Wars Legends, and please do PM me for the bd25 DEED(Despecalised Editions), as I have this version, though I can’t answer technical questions about them. So from the latest MakingStarWars podcast:

  • Jason heard about Obi-Wan’s show about three months ago, but then he got a signal that it wasn’t greenlit at that time so he didn’t make an article. He doesn’t know if it’s greenlit now.

  • He heard it’s 6 episodes as previously said in SWNN’s report.

  • Jason also seconds that Ewan McGregor was on Solo’s premiere because they indeed wanted to announce Obi-movie after some time.

  • The series’ script is based on the events from the movie’s script.

Also the show has begun pre-production:

https://www.fanthatracks.com/news/film-music-tv/star-wars-tv-production-begins-in-the-u-k/

“Tonight we can reveal that the third as yet unannounced Star Wars TV series will be shot in the UK under the production name of SERIES III PRODUCTIONS (UK) LIMITED which was registered on the public UK companies register on the 12th October 2018. We anticipate that the focal point of the series will be revealed at Star Wars Celebration in April. It should be noted that for convenience Disney register businesses in blocks, and the creation of these businesses does not mean they started production at those dates, merely that they intend to enter production soon. This can of course mean very early design development, and does not necessarily mean they will see final production, as seen recently with PLT Productions (the Kenobi movie.)”

That makes some sense. They would be able to utilize a lot of craftspeople there who have worked on the films, and might make it easier for Ewan to commit to a lengthy shoot. I presume he doesn’t live in the states?

Quick Google suggests he has a home in LA and another in London.

I will watch Ewan McGreor as Obi-Wan in anything. I picture it as something like an old episode of Kung-Fu in space. Someone else as Obi-Wan would be an uphill battle.

Unless of course the give us The Young Obi-Wan Chronicles that follows a young padawan Obi-Wan on his adventures with his mentor Qui-Gon, also portrayed by a younger actor.

I’m not a fan of these stand alone films. They don’t seem to be working, and I think they’re ruining Star Wars by taking away the mystique and fan fare of the episodes.

If they want to make a good Obi-Wan movie, then they should remake the prequels.

I guess you could call me a hipster; I think the prequels are better than the originals, and I think the Beach Boys are better than the Beatles.

I would love the see a young Obi-wan with Qui-Gon, Liam Neeson reprise his role teaching him. However, with Disney owning Star Wars and Marvel, they have a lot of shows on their plate right now between the two franchises.

There could be flashbacks that Obi-wan has in this series where Qui-Gon could be teaching him something in the past, that he uses in that particular episode, just so he could cameo in the series, besides just being a voice. I hope Frank Oz has a few lines too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if one or two shows between Marvel and Star Wars don’t get off the ground.

I can do the voices of C-3PO, Old Ben Kenobi, the Emperor, and Yoda.

We’ve only had two so far, one that did better than expected, and one that was seemingly cursed from the beginning with behind the scenes turmoil, and being released into an overcrowded summer market far too soon after TLJ.

Remakes are not happening.

It’s not the movies I don’t like, it’s just the idea of them. Stand-alone Star Wars movies don’t interest me. Actual Star Wars movies (the episodes) do.

Well it looks like to me they are pushing the standalone film ideas to the streaming service as multi-episode shows, and for actual movies it will just be multiple-film series, or trilogies, like B&W’s project and Rian’s trilogy apparently are. I personally doubt we will get anymore anthology films on the silver screen in the near future.

If you would have told me in 1997 that there would be 17 live action (5 trilogies, and 2 standalone) Star Wars films, 4 live action series on TV, and multiple animated Star Wars series and films. I would have thought you were nuts.

There’s just so much out there right now. I think the best thing they did was turning the Boba Fett movie into The Mandalorian, and the Obi-wan movie toward the Disney+ streaming service. I’m also looking forward to the Cassian Andor series too.

I can do the voices of C-3PO, Old Ben Kenobi, the Emperor, and Yoda.

That’s a much much better idea. The anthology movies play like tv movies anyway.

For once, I’m disappointed. This saga needs an enema.

It depends on how old you are. I think I will. This Disney thing will not last long.

They gotta. Over half of the Star Wars movies aren’t considered good. They’re gonna remake them at some point in the very distant future. Probably beyond our lifetimes. It’s too good of a story to squander.

They might make animated adaptations of the films for very young kids, but they will never remake any movie in the Skywalker Saga.

They will, a long time from now. They won’t remake individual movies, but they’ll remake the whole saga. This series has a great story, that hasn’t been done properly.

Those won’t be remade until 2077.
