Hello everyone. First, I’m sorry for not posting in the original Keep thread but I felt this should be separate anyway.
Now, I recently put together a DVD for a friend of mine (for xmas) which contained a number of “The Keep” related stuff:
The centrepiece, however, was the widescreen LD rip by MrBridger (that was the focus of the other thread). I made the stupid mistake of deleting it once burning and checking it myself. Turns out the thing stutters (sound-wise) on his player. It was probably my tinkering with cropping off the Barbarella trailer and adding menus that caused problems. I wish I’d left the MrBridger DVD on my hard drive and could burn that simply as it was. Ah well. (though if anyone has it and doesn’t mind sending me a copy here in Australia…)
Anyway, my point is that while I was searching I never did find decent quality versions of the alternate ending/s or the theatrical trailer. I’m after these as such. More than that though, I’m after the satellite rip that was posted on the eDonkey network. I have never been able to get that to work for me and when I tried the different links I was unable to get it to connect and download. The reason I wanted the satellite rip is because it appears to have much richer color than the LD print while being synched to the LD audio. I could burn my friend the MrBridger DVD with the SatRip + the alternate ending/s and trailer on another disc.
I’ve since seen the film and I too would enjoy the more pleasing image of this version. So, I ask, is there anyone who has or can obtain the satellite rip? There is some info on it here. <span class=“Bold”>NOTE:</span> Mods, I can understand if you’d like me to remove this link. I did try to find a page that wasn’t like a direct link to a torrent or what have you.
P.S. Thinking about it… depending on the quality and other factors, perhaps we could use that color histogram filter Paul’s using for his vintage Star Wars edits and make the more detailed LD rip have the same color as the satellite rip? I don’t know… we need the satellite rip to be uploaded to Rapidshare or the like first.
To contact me outside the forum, for trades and such my email address is my OT.com username @gmail.com
Does any still have the satellite rip? I'd love to put this film in a better version on my home theater media player.

<span class=“Bold”>JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.</span></span>

<span class=“Bold”>Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.</span></span>
<span class=“Italics”>JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.</span>
It is at CG,here is the info:

video codec: XviD ISO MPEG-4

audio codec: 0x2000 (Dolby AC3) AC3
audio bitrate: 256kbps CBR

Sorry for sounding stupid (my friends are used to it), but what does CG stand for?

I take it CG=Cinemageddon?

Just by looking at the stats it would seem that this video has been dumbed down from the original cap. Kind of a bummer when you think of how cool a movie it is. Is there a better/fuller version available?
Yes read past comments.
I guess I didn't see a definitive answer......sorry.
So where is the better version, not the dumbed down one,and the DVD r there is out of the question,at least for me,looks like it has problems.
OK the DVD's problem is a minor one,I just noticed this,
"The anamorphic flag was not set for VTS_01."
does anyone who downloaded the DVD still have this fix?
"Ifo edit" will correct that...it does have alot of colour problems apart from that i think its the best so far, shame DigitalFreakNYC dont do a laserdisc transfer...his transfers are great.

How is this done?and I wonder if IfoEdit works in Win7 Pro 64 bit?
I have to say - I've NEVER seen this film look so good.
So the DVD-r has the alternate ending then? (i.e. Scott Glenn survives)
[EDIT]
Just watched it. Apparently not. I'll keep watching the sat version on my media player. It's sweet!
[EDIT]
Apparently there's a "sh*tbuster" version with these stats. I could only find edonkey links, all of which appear to be dead:

It's been awhile since I've prowled on Usenet, but I found this old reference:

So maybe some enterprising Usenetter could find it?

I take it there are no enterprising Usenetters here anymore? :(

I searched for it but could not find anything,I used binsearch,if you can find a nzb file I will see what I can get.
Hi I am the `MrBridger` who original did the Laserdisc rip. Now the laserdisc was not the best transfer i had seen but very watchable. One thing that has annoyed me rewatching the rip after several years is how low the sound is and wish i sorted that a long time ago. The laserdisc was not anamorphic just a normal 4:3 letterbox transfer
Now this was aired on Sky HD movies a few years ago and its such a pity that it wasnt capped as it was a lovely print. I do have a search now and then see if it pops up on usenet etc but to no avail.
Netflix has it in their streaming system. There was talk elsewhere around here about capturing from NF. Is that a possibility?
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
I'm sure it's possible.
I could capture it myself (Wii-->capture card), but my card only does composite SD. Not sure if that'd be worth it or not.

Just so you are aware - there is a NF rip on CG at 720p. Quality is good - but not great.
