I know i'm probalbly absolutely in the minority here, but I have always prefered films in stereophonic sound to dolby 5.1, especially if that is how they were filmed or recorded, rather than artificially created after the fact 30 years later. Although 5.1 and 6.1 and 7.1 are viable now, and create better spacialization stereo tracks should be included on releases, (also known as dolby 2.0) or better yet Pcm Stereo uncompressed!

I'm going to spell this out very easily for you. The 5.1 track on the Raiders DVD was derived from the original 6 track mix. Nothing was added or taken away. The mix was done at Paramount and not Lucasfilm. Had Lucasfilm been involved, I'm sure new elements would have creeped in, but as it is, the DVD IS the original mix. And the original Dolby Stereo track was derived as well from the 6 track master. This isn't a case like Star Wars where multiple mixes were made.

The digital PCM track on the widescreen laser disc is wrong! It has at least one sound effect that is different from the original film and the analog sound on the original LD is pretty fuzzy sounding. Neither are worth preserving.

is there any way a fan like myself could somehow achieve a mixdown to 2.0 from the 5.1 audio?

Use the left and right audio outputs of your DVD player.

Neil

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

Yeah, plug the stereo RCA inputs into your DVD player and not the 5.1 cables. Instant 2.0 downmix.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I just stumbled accross Starlog #142 May 1989, with an article on The Last Crusade. The cover teaser reads "Revealed! INDIANA JONES his secret past" I will hook up my scanner and scan it, if it would be of use to anybody.

Cool. This will make a cool .pdf for the archives.

I don't think we're going to start archiving things like this...at least I'm not going to. There are a billion articles on Indiana Jones, a lot of which I have. I'm not going to even bother with this.

In other news, there will eventually be other Indy releases. I just want to tackle something else right now.

I'm only looking for stuff for me, .pdf wise. I can't wait for the next Indy release. Maybe you could give a hint when you are ready.

Hi. Can someone please reseed this torrent? I just realised my dvd copy of it is defective and I don't have a backup. Thanks!

How are things progressing with this?

This sounds like a really interesting project and I would love to see the finished product.

Hello, I'm new to the forum, and a HUGE Indiana Jones fan. I was sent here by Cassidy, who referred me to this greta place.
I have a DVD backup of my Making of Raiders/Great Movie Stunts VHS, but would love to get a copy from the Laserdisc. I assume the video will be much better than my VHS transfer.
Also, I never even KNEW there was a Making of Temple of Doom. Even thought this is old news for you folks, this is tremendous news for me.
If anyone can help me get any Indy stuff on DVD, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Welcome aboard Blues. You'll find a wealth of awesome Indy projects here. I think DFNYC has the absolute best Indiana Jones projects around, so you might want to PM him - anyone else able to PiF some of these?

Thanks TheCassidy, I appreciate the warm welcome. This place is a like a dream come true. I have loved everything Indiana Jones since I saw it on my 13th birthday, which was also the films US release, June 12th '81. It will always hold a special place in my heart, since it was the last film I saw with my father. And don't get me started on Star Wars, lol. Can't get enough of this stuff!.

Hi there,

I'm also knew to the OT forum, not sure why it took me so long to discover it. I'm astonished not just buy the wealth of material out there but by the incredible QUALITY of it all. It's wonderful to see people taking the time to preserve this material.

Anyway I'm also a huge IJ fan. Really looking forward to seeing some of these projects.

Keep up the good work.

Anybody got 'Heroes and Sidekicks'?

I had it on video up until sometime in 1986 when my brother recorded over it. He calmed my fury soon after with an ad proclaiming TEMPLE OF DOOM was due out on video soon. 2 years is a long time to wait for a kid.

I have a copy of it but it's really not worth preserving. There is VERY little material here that's not in any of the other specials. I might just do a short 2-3 minute compilation of the stuff that isn't for a future release.

DFNYC - could you please point me in the right direction for obtaining your 'Raiders' and 'TOD' projects, as the torrents seem to be inactive.

Thanks in advance for any help.

That would be appreciated. As I recall it had much more extensive coverage of the final bridge climb.

And this might be my memory playing tricks on me, but does anyone else recall a RAIDERS special hosted by Karen Allen? Its not The Making Of... and its not the Stunts one so I'm at a loss as to what I could be thinking of.

There is a darker side of Indy that might find its way onto this project. :-P And sometimes it leaks:

...my favorite piece of equipment. I haven't used it in months. I'll bet it's hard as a rock!
