I thought Mondo and 01 were different companies... 01's Winx DVDs are far less competent than Mondo's

I believe they are different companies. However, 01 seems to have truck a deal where they're basically porting some Mondo discs, albeit with region coding.
Thanks for both of these. Will be using the Mondo version later.
Great job, much appreciation for all your hard work and time spent creating this soundtrack
This sounds like an interesting project. It also proves that fan can always do it better xD Thanks for undertaking such a task for us all :) Now I just need to rip my Mondo blu-ray :P
Hi,
could I have a PM for both tracks (mondo version and US 4k) as well?
Thanks.
faust1103, the PM thing works the other way round (you PM me). :)
PM sent for TheHutt!
All PMs answered so far. :)

I just picked up a copy and I can confirm the new GBU 4K BD has the original mono mix during the International cut scenes. Unfortunately, it's lossy Dolby Digital 1.0 192kbps.

Is there a link to this version on Amazon UK? Or an Amazon US link? (Provided it's region free).
I assume it's different to the standalone UK release from earlier in the year.
Although the description isn't entirely accurate this should be it based on the cover design and release date:
The audio for some extended scenes has been edited. Most significantly, the monologue/dialogue of the grotto scene, which had terrible synchronization in the previous releases, has been revised.

Can you confirm if it's region free please?
I have a Seiki BD player that you must manually select the region you wish to play. In the region 2 setting this disc still plays so it seems to be region free. Best to have someone else confirm this.
Cool.
I've ordered it, so fingers crossed!
@ Lil Brutto
There's some confusion about whether it really is the original mono on the new disc, could you provide a definitive/noticeable scene where it'll be easy for others to tell it's a different track and not just 5.1 downmix please?
I posted 2 examples (there are more) on SLWB that confirm it's different:
1) During the outpost scene (post-desert) the voice that says, "Sergeant, listen to this Corporal for a moment." has changed
2) During the grotto scene, Tuco's words have been rearranged during his monologue and dialogue with the 3 bandidos. His voice has been altered to sound deeper too.
Cheers dude, I've posted a quote over in the thread at Blu ray.com to avoid confusion :)
Here's the link to the specific thread
Here's a screenshot comparing both 4K BD mono tracks in Audacity.
"mixdown" is from the 2014 US MWNN Trilogy BD.
"original" is from the 2014 US "standalone" GBU BD.
It's clear from the waveforms they're not identical. I listened to them simultaneously ("mixdown" in left channel and "original" in right channel) and they go in and out of sync with each other throughout the film. It's clear that Chace Audio tweaked the track on the standalone BD. Now the audio credit is justified, unlike on the UK 4K BD and US MWNN Trilogy BD where it was utterly mystifying.
Thank you for again for being so thorough!
I've quoted you again over BR forums :)
All good, spread the word.
Only wish it was lossless. There's simply no excuse for lossy tracks nowadays. Sacrifice something if you have to!
Fan-made tracks like TheHutt's, which mainly use the LD PCM mono track, are still superior IMO.
BR forum is so funny. No amount of REALITY will keep anyone from believing the negativity they want to believe in.
FACT: the new mono is the same. BR forumers approved.
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU POST. It's better if the wrong track is in. Or else no one have anything to complain about.
THEY DON'T WANT RELEASES TO BE RIGHT. period.
You've got to be f***ing kidding me. Well, here goes another attempt to replace a defective disc with one that has corrected audio. My last one at WB to fix the opening of Get Carter actually worked so who knows..
I bought the set thinking they would never touch the restored mono...but of course we needed another blu-ray to obtain just to have yet another thing to do...;) Here's hoping my message to Foxconnect will go well.

Just out of curiosity, why is DVD Savant refusing to review the 4K BD?
It is political? He knows the colors are terrible but doesn't want to piss off his colleagues?
