More than hate really, most people would be amazed how much it has to do with Muslim eschatology. As much as we want to consider religion as merely a side activity and not a deeper part of our lives, this is not the case over there. Over there religion is an aspect that is very active in their lives and dictates the way their lives play out. So much more than hate is in the picture, or perhaps it is better to say that hate is based on something deeper, their religion. You can get free Korans sent right to your door, I wish more people would do that. It is a very interesting read, very enlightening.
Except that there is no more "over there," as you put it. It's in your midst, all of ours. Look at what is happening in Birmingham in the UK, for example. There are nationalized citizens born and bred in the United Kingdom that are committing radical acts of terrorism, based soley on the desire to disrupt Western ideology.
I think the point needs to be made that the majority of Muslims are a peace loving people who condemn the perversion of their religion, but there are some basic tenants there that non-Muslims have to be very, very cautious of.
Fundamentalist or not, they take their religion very seriously and their mythology is rife of violent symbolism and practices. It's something we in the West need to wrap our heads around. Islamic extremists don't understand tolerance, democracy, freedom and personal rights. They understand two things. Life and death. You are alive alive, or you are dead. They can't be reasoned with, it is a truth to them.
This is why people need to realize that this is not an "over there" problem, in this case I assume "over there" is the Middle East. In every major urban centre in the World, is a radical extremist group, Muslim or otherwise, who want nothing more than to see us all suffer.
