Well, why should evolution be taught as fact in the school? If it is a THEORY, which it is, don't I, (as a 14 year old "ignorant" student of the public education) have the right to hear other theory? Its disgusting the way this is taught. At least my 8th grade teacher had the balls to say "Well, I have to teach this to you, but for the record, I do not believe in it. That is all that is going to be said"--Like, I mean, can I as a kid have some sort of disclaimer warning me that this is not fact? Just a theory?

Like every time you go to church the reverend has to say: "all that I'm going to say is not fact, it's just a theory"? Children who go to church go there because their parents want to. Not because they want to. They are brainwashed from a very early age. I think you should not confront children with evolution or religion until they are 12-14 and than show them both theories so they can make up their own mind.

Thats so stupid.Do you honestly think todays 12-14 year olds are competent and even understand a fiber of this debate. That is just fucking unbelievable---You must not know how the average 12-14 year old is. This is very funny.
You must have a very sad life from what I am reading. Jesus Christ.

You are 14. So you are actually saying you don't understand the debate. Oh right, you are not the average 14 year old... But you are right, the age should be upped to 18. Dude, you want a disclaimer for the evolution theory! And you go crazy when I try to show you the issue from the other point of view. Seriously, you must already be brainwashed from what I am reading And why would I have a sad life?

I bet he thinks that about people who aren't religous.

No, but I think that way about people who think a 12-14 year old is actually competent and can make a decision for him/her self that will effect their entire life time.

That's not what I meant. I meant from 12-14 years ON they can be exposed to the different theories/religions. If you start any earlier they will just accept what's thrown at them and not what they decided on their own. But maybe 18 is a better age. Before that, no religion and no evolution theory.
If you think 12-14 is too young why is it OK to go to church from the day you are born and be told that religion is the only true belief?

How is an impressionable (meaning average) 12-14 year old going to react when the bio teacher teaches evolution as it is fact? regardless of being braiwashed into a religious home (which is less the case now, because so many people are not religious or do not give a damn) they are going to listen to their teacher, regardless of being presented a disclaimer.
BIG DIFFERENCE, public school is public school. Almost all children of the U.S. go to it. It is government run. You have to go. A church is private and people choose to go to it.
EDIT: So you are advocating rebellion for children not to listen to parents? THEY ARE KIDS. They are raised according to the parents up till the age of 18. They can then decide what they want to do for themselves--whatever it may be. Go to church, or go fuck each other on the side of the road...Their choice.

FACT: Kids usually don't listen to their parents.

FACT: They usually listen to others. Meaning they are impressionable. If they don't listen to parents, then who are they listening too?

WESHALPRESERVE, do you believe the following:
- supernovas?
- black holes?
- theory of relativity?
- the absolute zero point?
- atoms and quantum mechanics?
- that there's so much energy stored inside atoms that you can create a massive explosion when you split some?
- that there's actually invisible radiation like radio waves?
- galaxies?
- the speed of light?
- that it takes the light 80000 - 100000 years to cross our galaxy?
etc

Yes. That was stupid to ask.

The greatest scientist on earth (the one that named some/most of the things you refer to) once said there is something more to life than the human mind will ever know, something that we cannot ever begin to comprehend--for this reason, yes, your Albert Einstein who you must have thought was some flaming atheist, did believe in god.

If it is good enough for one of the smartest/wisest people alive, it is good enough for me and the other 6 billion people on earth.

Always possible, we may never know. I would like to stick to the opninon that there is some higher being, wether you call it god, allah, boss, or mumbas. Alas, but for now, I would like to stick to what I believe is the truth, anyone else can believe what they want, when they want.-just not teach their opinions in a biology class as fact. True there is evidence, but never the less, like some people believe about god, it is a theory. Not absolute fact.

He believed in Spinoza's God.

Theories are much easier to believe if they don't contradict your religion aren't they?

Edit: Evolution is not taught as fact, if it is, it shouldn't be. That's why we call it evolution theory. Since it's already called theory I don't think it needs an extra disclaimer.
Biological theories are constantly updated because more and more discoveries are being made. Even my immunology book of 2003 is severely outdated. I wouldn't say it contains lies but it misses a lot of information according to todays standards.

Edit 2:
True there is evidence, but never the less, like some people believe about god, it is a theory. Not absolute fact.

I don't think we have a difference of opinion

Exactly--the way it was being taught to me, (and this is according to the books) it does not once say the word theory--not once, it is taught the same way 21+5=26 and the same way it is taught that Hitler invaded Europe. It is taught as fact, but in reality it is not, and I am all for learning, but putting these these ideas into very, very impressionable young minds is the wrong way to go about it.

I don't believe in black holes. The underlying math supporting their existence is flawed if you ask me.

I don't know if I believe in black holes, never thought about it really. But I'm not very good at math. Is there a way you can show why you think it's flawed or will I get swamped in formulas?

They involve too many highly questionable paradoxes for one thing. Otherwise to put my understanding of physics simply, if ordinary matter cannot undergo a transition to the speed of light, it seems illogical to propose that any combination of ordinary matter, with finite density and finite gravitational pull, could ever make the transition into an object with infinite density and infinite gravitational pull. The layout of a time-space field would endlessly warp before ever allowing any sort of "event horizon" to exist that is capable of infinitely transforming a photon's wavelength within that same field. In my opinion, black holes are mostly a kind of sensationalist idea. If any similar kind of object exists in our universe (which is still a question for me as well) it would probably have finite mass that is contained within an area of greater-than-zero size.

So what does everyone think about the Iranian Situation with the Brits?

Wow, I am surprised nobody has an opinion on this. Weren't we just here less than a year ago? I remember something about a couple of Israelis, but I am not quite sure. Seems it lead to a silly little war or something like that. But hey, that was almost a year ago, ancient history these days. Not even worth considering.

Oh, one more thing, what is the purpose of the UN again? Because I keep forgetting.

I'd attack some of Iran's military targets, but that's never going to happen.

If anyone does it, it's going to be Israel again, command style-(like they did with Iraq (I believe, I know they did it, but I'm not sure if it was Iraq or Iran, they spent 24 hours strategically bombing targets one after another in the 80's) It could happen again-
