Then he is an original Star Wars trilogy fan

Not a Star Wars fan. Star Wars is the saga name of all six movies.

Also the Holiday Special is not a Star Wars movie. It is basically a spoof. I haven't seen it but it doesn't look good.

You don't like the originals, you've said so often. You prefer the SEs. Then you are not a fan of Star Wars either.

Jimbo, I hate to tell you but the Holiday Special is not a spoof. If it was anything it was painfully serious. Painful for the viewer that is.

Also, why is everything with you so black and white? Just becasue someone doesn't like one Star Wars movie does not mean that they hate Star Wars. Yes, Star Wars is the name of the whole saga. So what? I'm not too thrilled with ROTJ but that doesn't mean that I hate all Star Wars.

One minute you talk in generalities and two minutes later everything is all cut and dry. Either you like everything about Star Wars or in your eyes you hate Star Wars. Not true. I hate to echo this, but get a clue. I think that K-Mart is having a blue light special on them this weekend.

No I love the originals. The Special Editions are the originals with better effects. If there were no Special Editions I would have no problem with the originals at all.

Well I haven't seen the Holiday Special. I wasn't born when it aired and it was never released on video how was I suppose it.

It's out there. I'm sure if you search around you could find a copy.

I saw it when it aired but I didn't remember much about it. Once I got it on video I saw it again. Boy was it bad. That may be the reason I didn't remember much of it. My subconscious mind was protecting me from further trauma.

Thanks Bossk
I stand corrected, after dusting off my old VHS copies, both the THX and special edition (as I mentioned it has been a year or two since I last sat down and watched them in full) there was no mention of Jabba hunting down Jedi, maybe I'm losing my mind but I seem to remember Jabba saying it to Luke right after the "your jedi mind tricks will not work on me " line, I wonder if perhaps I'm getting it mixed up with one of the book adaptions or perhaps the Radio adaption, well at least that'll keep me busy for the next couple of hours.but I'm sure i've heard mention of Jabba "hunting down your kind before you were born"

If anyone can confirm this It would be helpful, and would mean I'm not losing the plot.

I found that quote you were talking about. It's in the Return of the Jedi novel. Right after Luke tries his Jedi Mind Trick and Jabba tells him that Mind Tricks don't work on him, he also says "I was killing your kind when being a Jedi meant something".

thanks for that Spyder, I knew I wasn't making it up or going crazy, I assume that the original novels are considered canon?

The Star Wars Canon hierarchy:

The Movies: Supercede all
The Novelizations of the movies: If it's not specifically mentioned or contradicted in the film, it's canon.
The Radio Dramas: If it is not specifically mentioned or contradicted in the movies or the books, it's cannon.

The end

Expended Universe is not considered canon.

My rule of thumb about canon (albeit one that can't hold up in an argument at all, so I don't press it) is that I pick and choose what I want to accept and what I don't. Now, it sounds stupid, but I keep it to myself and try to stay out of canon debates whenever I come across them. I also don't deny that certain things happened in the books that I don't agree with, though I do accept the movies entirely, just because there's no way around it. I even have a sketchy vision of an alternate prequel trilogy that is open to my imagination. So I don't exactly pretend like things never happened, you see.

BTW, what happened to Erich? His page is dead, and I was looking forward to reading more of his insights after returning from vacation.

That's possible. Perhaps Lucas did get to him and he's been silenced. Ok, this is beginning to sound totally X-Files.

I thought I remembered him having one, but with his site shut down, who knows what it is?

Erich, if you're still out there dodging the bounty hunters, let us know what's going on!

Pagz...Sacul the Hutt...I finally got that. That's great, though I tend to be a little slow sometimes.

Wow, Sacul the Hutt shares a name with the Rebel X-Wing pilot Jorg Sacul. Coincidence?

Depends on what sort of charater Jorg Sacul was. If he was constantly making alterations to his X-Wing, to the point where it barely looked like an X-Wing, and then erased the memory systems of his R2 unit so that the droid had no recollection, I would say it wasn't a coincidence.
