FYI
Saw that a fan edit of the Gangs of New York up on the Pirate Bay.
Here is the description:
"Gangs of New York: The Yoshimi Edit
Gangs of New York had all the potential to be a kick ass movie. Violent, bloody, grimey and just plain ugly. It even had Daniel-Day Lewis stealing the show as the unforgettable villian. Yet it failed.
Was it Leonardo De Craprio, with his on/off laughable Irish accent? Was it the uneven direction? Was it the utterly useless character played by Cameron Diaz? Just what went wrong?
Well, Yoshimi has a theory… that the movie could have been much better without the character Jenny (Cameron Diaz). What a good theory it is! Although the character cannot be removed completely, she has been reduced to a minor player in the whole scheme of things. Hell, she doesn’t even make an appearance until just over the half-way point! It cuts nearly 13 minutes from the film.
Yoshimi did a pretty damn good job overall. Some cuts were a little rough, but unavoidable. Most cuts are completely unnoticable. Check out the scene where Bill tosses the axe into the air and lets it come down onto the table!
I’m told that the next Yoshimi Project is going to be Good Night, and Good Luck. Can’t wait to see what that one will be like!"
