Isn't it interesting to think of the age we live in. Imagine if fifty years from now are grandchildren could access these forums and read all our posts. How foreign and alien it would seem to them. All these upcoming movies we say we are really looking forward to, they will have probably never seen any of them, and will have no idea what they are. They would read our quotes and references and not have a clue what any of them mean. While something like "Tonight we dine in hell!" is a pretty understandable reference to almost everyone here, probably even to the ones who have not seen 300, 50 years from now it will be such an obscure quote. Or the TV shows we talk about, which would be beyond old and forgotten by then. How great would it be to be able to emerse yourself into the culture of you parents or grandparents with a forum like this. What I wouldn't give to be able to be able to read discussions between my grandfather and his online friends. I wonder what they would have talked about back then. Maybe they would have been discussing the war in Europe, and Rosevelt, whether or not he was a good President much like we talk about Bush and Iraq today. What a treat that would be. What a way to know what things were really like.

I was just pondering how much times have changed and started thinking about what I wrote above and thought I would share it.

Maybe George Lucas' grand grand grand grand grand grand...grandson wll view this forum from the unreachable future and will come to realize his ancestor was quite the fuckin' douchebag resulting in him feeling ill at ease and killing himself, destorying the entire Lucas lineage forever. FOREVER, unless there's like PT-shit.

edit: if i didnt do it someone else would have.

I often find myself daydreaming about the future (or the past) like that. That's why I would choose the Delorian over the Holodeck or the Millennium Falcon (there was a thread about choosing 1 of those 3 once).

Anyone ever happened upon those old newsgroup posts from 1983 with people talking about ROTJ? That was a pretty good read. People trying to get together and go to the theater that had the 70mm print, people discussing how they loved it or hated it, and so on. Not much different than message boards today, except nobody posted anything like "OMG ROFLMAO LOLERZ liek GL rapped my childhood!!!1"

Kind of makes you wonder, what will people 50 years from now think of today's internet slang? What will their slang be like? Or maybe it'll be like Back to the Future: "You mean you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!"

Mark this down kids, I say if anyone finds this thread 50 years from now and reads this, if you can track me down I will give you $100 plus inflation.

I'm serious.

Well, Zion, if sites like Archive.org still exist, finding this thread may not be all that difficult.

Zion, you may be dishing out a lot of $100 plus inflation. Especially if someone stumbles across this fifty years from now and reads what you wrote and decides to cash in claiming to be one of us.

Stinky, that article is awsome. Through all my childhood I expected great things from the year 2000. Unfortunately I still don't own a hover car, nor have I taken that trip to Mars I was intending on taking. I hate to say it, but the year 2000 really blew.

It's really crazy going back to old forums and reading my own posts years later...

Is there anyone here who's a veteran of Jedi.net? I wasted a lot of time there, good times... except for all the tonic bull shit.

I could sure go for that hair removal cream -- it's be so much simpler than having to bother with shitty razors that always go dull or clog up.

You and Edgar Rice Burroughs both, probably.
