I know everyone is singing YUB YUB!!! like crazy right now, seeing that we've won and all, I'd still like this site to continue in some way.

The perservations threads should continue no matter what. There is so much great info there, not to mention the original versions to so many OTHER films. Plus it's a great place for people interesting in film editing as a hobby.

At the very least, Jay....morph the site into a film preservation site where home editors can come to discuss their craft. Besides getting the OOT on DVD, the discussion in those threads is worth gold!!!!

Just my sincere wishes....

thats ta great idea, jsut turn it into a video preservation site/fan edits. I'm looking foreword to alot of edits and the STARLILLER RANCH edit!!!!

Sure, we all discuss the preservations, but we also talk some about Star Wars in general, fan edits/preservations of many different films, as well as just general discussions about all sorts of things. We have also done two fundraisers. So I think we have become a bit of a community here, and so I don't think we'll just fade off and dissapear. I for one would be very dissapointed to hear that since the O-OT has been released on DVD, this site is shutting down.

I'm sure this site will stay. Once we're all old farts, we'll be demanding whoever is head of LFL to release the OT in HD Crystaline Holographic format.

To be honest, if the O-OT that comes out in September is very good quality, and I am satisfied with it, I think it will be closure for me on SW forums. I think this has been the driving force of frustration with Lucas and that has spilled over with the PT, but I have come to terms that the PT is what it is. I have never lost faith in the battle to bring this to DVD, so hopefully on September 12th, we the fans get a great transfer with great sound, and we can finally enjoy SW again like we did as kids.

But for the time being, there is chance this set could be shit, and we are back to square one, and I will probably hate Lucas forever. But I do have a feeling that this set will please a majority of the fans, so in that sense, I will retire from SW sites.

I agree with CO, I will/am gonna retire from Star Wars more or less after/with the release of the OOT, I have no real interest anymore whats said by anyone involved in Star Wars, any future releases or the TV series they are for the others, the circle is more or less complete for me, I have the prequels which I will still watch, the fan produced Star Wars stuff still to watch as well, though I will still looking at the preservation forums here for the fan productions but Star Wars news doesnt interest me much now.

I agree that I won't be interested in anything new Star Wars-related, but I'm enough of a fan of the community here that I won't want to leave. But I also agree that we shouldn't just "lay down arms" until the DVDs are released. Anybody who wants to leave should at least stick it out until September, or at least until more details come out. Chaltab quipped that maybe we should rally for a boxset release, and I'm tempted to agree with that.

I made the following post in a different thread, but it's more relevant in this one...

People can still discuss the original trilogy. After all, we're all here because we really like it. It's a passion, an escape, a part of our journey. We've spent plenty of time discussing it, but now there won't be this preoccupation with, or this threat of, it being taken away forever while we try to find a way to save it.

Sure, the war is over - but now, the original trilogy isn't.

i'll come around for the custom edits mostly.... if this site still exists. I'm even thinking of doing this editing thing as a hobby like some of the members do so this place would function as a good source of information on techniques and such.

Err.. is that it then?

What about getting OT on HD-DVD and Blue-ray???!!!! Now that we have a new standard DVD won't cut it anymore!! I want all six episodes on 1080p res!!
