i'm just trying to catch up on all you guys stellar transfers and fan projects to not get left behind.

how's that when it is already on dvdr? and on these forums quite a while back. This thread was about producing a better version. The official dvd release probalbly at least in the united states where I live will not have the same audio commentaries and features as the ld.

Extras on DVD are ported from laserdisc, Jackson did not record new commentary.

Skyjedi: If you had read through the last few posts of this thread thoroughly, you'd understand that the new DVD release has EVERYTHING the laserdisc has. That's why they cancelled the fan project. Just go out and by the DVD. It's worth it.

Actually Netflix does have it, as i have it in my queue as we speak. Oddly, they had 2 discs listed, then
the 'first' disc when into 'wait' mode or something. i still ahve the EXTRAS disc in my queue, with a short
wait.

Dunno if they screwed up, or if Universal made a 2 discs sent for rental houses.

I got my set yesterday (here in Germany it's a 4-disc set including the theatrical AND the director's cut), and just had a quick look. Looking great altogether, and the 4 hours of making-of stuff are just fantastic (though I've already seen the laserdisc-transfer of it). The design of the digipak suits the movie very well, the only drawback of the set is, that the menus are not animated (though I don't know if this applies to the RC1-set as well).

Netflix doesn't rent out double sided discs because they tend to damage easier. Usually, they split them over two discs. Hopefully when they do get the first disc in, it's the Director's Cut and not the theatrical one as the description implies.

Anyone buy the new edition yet?
I was going to pick it up and then read an article about Universal having problems with their DVD-18s.
Am I correct this is a DS-DL release?
Anyone having problems?

Did any one catch the UHD Broadcast in HD?
How does it compare with the DVD?
I have not yet found the DVD set so I can not compare it with MY HD recording.
