The Force Unleashed II (May Contain Spoilers or Peanuts)

PREFACE: I really liked The Force Unleashed, and am cautiously optimistic about the sequel.  (Though I may wait 2 years for the Sith edition so I'm not taken for a ride).

So, I read in a magazine how they are getting Starkiller/(insert other name here) is alive and well for The Force Unleashed II.  (I assume this info will be common knowledge soon, but otherwise consider it a spoiler).

The character you play in TFU2 is a clone of the character you played in TFU1.  The story is set 6 months after the end of the first and starts with Vader traveling to Kamino to check in on the clone.  The clone fights lots of Proxy droids and it eventually shifts to Juno Eclipse (love interest from TFU1), whom the Starkiller clone refuses to fight, for reasons he doesn't understand.  Apparently there is some clone bleed over issues or something

Anyways, I was curious how the character would return and when the story was set.  Now I know, and so do you.

I kind of liked the atmosphere in TFU, but could never really dig the gameplay. Hopefully they'll have sorted out all of the little problems (i.e. make it more like God of War) by the time TFU2 comes out.

Yeah, the atmosphere was great but the gameplay became tedious and boring. A little variety would be nice - maybe some gunplay and  / or brawling?

And no self respecting game developer should ever rely on quicktime events!

Am I the only one that always reads TFU instead of TFU?  They should have come up with a different name.

I thought the gameplay of the first IMMENSELY improved upon playing the game on harder difficulties.  My first playthrough was on medium, I think, and I found the game to be easy enough that I just spammed the same attack over and over again.  On the 'insane' difficulty, I found I actually had to block and strategize attacks.  It was also insanely frustrating in places (Kazdan Paratus took me 5 hours.  Literally) but it was more rewarding.

You should bump up the difficulty and see if the gameplay doesn't improve for you.

I don't have that problem, but I do have one very similar.

I see 'SWTFU' as 'STFU'.

I played on a friend's copy and just found it to be another repetitive SW button masher.

The novel was pretty good though. At least they came up with a reasonable way for Starkiller to return for the sequel.

Is it too much to ask for a modern OT SW game that is actually fun? Everything else is EU or Prequel.

Oh boy, now I have to go and play Jedi Outcast...

That's the "watch this cut scene but be ready to hit 'A' " moments, right?

Well, the OT wasn't really designed with video games in mind, whereas the PT clearly was.

I'd dig that. But the entire Star Wars world is so Jedi-centric these days, and there are no full-fledged Jedi in the OT stories.

Reasonable? Seriously? A clone? Reasonable? Pretty weak.

Um... perhaps you heard of that little thing in Star Wars called "The Clone Wars"?  Like it or not, Cloning is in the DNA.  The way it's brought out often sucks... but it's in the DNA.

Yeah, but the cloning seen in Star Wars isn't of the 'magically make a dead character live again' variety. It's 'make a genetic twin to be a slave with growth acceleration' variety.

I'm a science teacher with a mean volley-ball spike shot. If I died, a clone of me would not automatcially continue my struggles.

Well, if we consider TFU to be EU and Dark Empire to be of the same EU then you could say that at least some of the cloning in Star Wars is of the 'magically make a dead character live again' variety.

Sorry. I tried to reply to your post, but my hands started convusling. It seems you brought up something that I have strong mental blocks against. This thread is becoming dangerous to my mental wellbeing.

If Midichlorians are genetic, then strong Jedi would be on the top of your "To Clone" list.  And I happen to like Clone-Memory-Bleed-Over in Scifi, so nyah.

Heh. Yeah, I know there's a lot of taboo surrounding that thing.

Thanks for the info xhonzi

I was interested see how this will go.

Thankfully there is still vader in the franchise :)

Hopefully we can get a more polished product at the end.
