I can’t wait for this and V2 of The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant.

I’m in the same boat here Lawdog
“You will find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view” — Obi-Wan Kenobi
I’m trying to complete the final promised effects for both projects so that they’re done around the same time. I have a deadline set for the first week of November, but this edit’s basically done so now it’s just getting the Ascendant shots done and sent to Hal.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Not to derail the thread, but you’re working on the crackly saber shots, right?

Wow Nev, the Han shot looks really good my man.
“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”
Was wondering, will there be a final workprint 5 before the full release?

No, just the biomes opening and Rey’s eyes in the vision.

Probably not. I’m likely to just make a smaller version of the final to include in the workprint folder for anyone who wants that over the full quality version.

What about her eyes when she flares her teeth? The yellow eyes could flash up when she does that.

I think thats whats Nev is referring to

I’m so indifferent to that idea it hurts. If Nev genuinely feels like doing it ill include it but I really don’t care. Taking care of the inexplicable milky eyes is the main concern on my end.
That said, this TFA project is gonna be something real special. 😃
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
Milky eyes, that’s the one. 😃

She absolutely needs 2 cocoa puffs for those milky eyes.
The other scene would be a bonus, but not necessary.

Let’s stay on topic here, however, I wanted to point out that Daisy Ridley has hazel eyes, not brown.

That Han scene is great! His face isn’t perfect but it’s way better than last time. Such a great addition.
Are you planning on doing anything with the Luke scenes in TROS? I doubt Jonh is gonna come back anytime soon and his haircut clips were mostly finished if I remember, it would be nice to have your regrade over them. And I feel like you could fix any hair glitches seeing the Han dice wizardry.
Another question Nev: Will you releasing both versions (starlight standard and visions) at the same time?
I think some slight color correction on Han’s skin tones may be needed for the outside cockpit shot. The coloring and compositing does seem a tad bit off there to me.

Thanks! I will happily apply the grade to any of the unfinished shots, but I wouldn’t be trying to further improve them.

Visions will be later, when I’ve got more time to devote to the ending. I feel like there’s a stronger musical transition to the credits and I’ve yet to find it.

I’ve done a final pass on the color in the timeline so it looks fairly consistent to me. Sorry I haven’t updated the mockup, but I wanted to save the final version for the release 😃

That’s totally fine with me!

Just making sure, will the added sith eyes during the final duel still be in the final edit?
They may be my favorite part of the entire edit so far

Yes, they will remain.

One thing I will say about Rey’s Sith eyes in this edit is that I feel they look a bit faded and not quite as apparent. I feel that they could be a bit brighter, kinda like how they appeared on Anakin in that one shot in Revenge of the Sith.
Also, I’m curious. Will you also be doing edits of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, Nev?

I’m planning on TLJ, but not on TROS. Which might be ironic seeing how this edit ties in so well with Rey Palpatine, but it was originally intended merely to give Rey a more conflicted edge. With all due respect to TROS edits, the movie remains unsalvageable to me.

Understandable. I felt the same way until the community on this site did some incredible work for Hal’s edit.

And hey, TROS:A’s existence shouldn’t imply I find the film salvageable either. 😉
