The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS ** — Page 106

Well that goes without saying. I still firmly believe that we get that (in 1080p) May 2017, so I’m assuming it will be included in any kind of compendium edition.

I remember when one of the theatres in my area had the seven movie marathon but I didn’t bother because 1. The PT sucks monkey balls and 2. The only version of the OT that was being played was the “Special Edition” so I only bothered to see TFA in the cinema. If in 2019 and they do a nine movie marathon I will see the OT if it’s the unaltered versions but I will definitely for sure see VII, VIII and IX.

By the way Han shot first.

Disney doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to jump on the 4K bandwagon just yet. And unless a modern film has been rendered at 4K, or an older film has a shiny new 4K master, you’re paying for an upscale anyway.

I guess we’re operating under the assumption that due to the date of the LF acquisition, any master of the OUT will have been finished in 4K.

Hopefully the deleted scenes don’t have the time code again. And hopefully a couple of them add something to the plot

Hopefully this time the deleted scenes include something “more meaningful” that can be inserted in future edits. But there will probably be just more 10 second snippets with timecodes etc, haha! I’m just wishing for almost anything to replace / alter the Rathtar scene. 😛

I like the way you think… 😉

They just had to get this announcement out of the way yesterday, since they want Rogue One to be the center of all Star Wars buzz from tonight until December.

Mission accomplished than I can’t wait to see grandfather destroy the insignificant Rebellion.

By the way Han shot first.

While I’ve no doubt that the additional deleted scenes offered by this 3D release will be ‘timecoded’ again, here’s the info. on what they will be this time around - www.thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/081116_1430

I haven’t got enough time to go into all my thoughts on the movie itself, but here’s a brief summary for now - I’m really glad George sold the franchise, as it was great to see a popular ‘Star Wars’ movie back in the headlines again. There was plenty that I liked a lot, but there was also a few things I disliked too - my ‘main’ issue being that if Han had to be killed off, then I really wish it had happened in one of the subsequent follow-ups, rather than when we had just been re-introduced to him in this first ‘sequel’ trilogy instalment…

Although there’s quite a few scenes (including certain dialogue) that I hope to re-edit for myself eventually, it turned out well enough overall to have a good re-watchability factor for me…which is something I find hard to do with any of the ‘prequel’ trilogy movies these days…due to the fact that there’s just SO MANY moments that I intend to re-edit in each of them!

But overall, it was great to see the franchise continue on once again, as I never thought I’d ever see the old gang back on the big screen again…and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next.

They had to kill off Han in part in case Harrison Ford died before they could film VIII. You can’t start off the crawl with, “Han Solo has died in a freak rathtar accident.”

I find your lack of faith in Harrison to live a little longer, disturbing.

Hell, I still expect him to complete another Indy movie to make up for KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL yet! (although it wasn’t his fault, I know)

Saw this again the other day and it’s even worse now. Almost as bad as the prequels as time passes. Absolute garbage. Will not be watching it again.

WYSHS

I wouldn’t be opposed to that either. Alderaan doesn’t come on general that often and when he does I only remember him being one of the front runners for the baffling anti TFA arguments.

Nonsense: the prequels are better than TFA. At least in TPM when Anakin meets Obi-Wan he’s not “oh, you’re Obi-Wan, really !” and “No way: Yoda !?! I thought you were a myth !” (with the weird Daisy Ridley squirrel face it’s even worse). At least Lucas tried to do something. He failed, but he tried. JJ failed without even trying to do something.

[I’m really not sure I already said I didn’t like TFA. Did I ?]

Come on now. There are some legitimate problems with TFA so you don’t have to resort to…this.

I’m being serious. If you want an example of what I’m talking about Mala’s response to you perfectly encapsulates my message.

I think they are all terrible movies (the four of them), so it’s hard to rate one piece of garbage as less smelly than another piece of garbage. But I do think you’re right–at least Lucas tried to do something innovative even if he failed in horrific fashion. TFA, on the other hand, while not being incompetent or monotonously boring, WAS one of the least genuine and intellectually dishonest films I’ve ever seen. Absolute rubbish.
