Mostly innuendo. "Look at the size of that thing!"

"Get on top of it!" "I'm trying!"

"You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!"

"She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts."

Etc.

Put "that's what she said" after each one.

I cant tell if you're joking or not. I've never thought for a moment that any of that was innuendo at all.

Oh, I get it. I understand how it's potentially innuendo. But was it intended that way? Nope.

I'm with Tim on this one.  No way that was ever intended as innuendo.

What's most astounding is that he takes great, funny snide remarks delivered with peerless spirit (otherwise known as great humor), such as "You're brave than I thought," and thinks it's "dumb humor" because he mistakes it for crass innuendo, due to the incessant proximity of his mind to the gutter.

On the other hand, the bit where Han is pushing on Leia's hindquarters as she grimaces and manipulates a giant rod, I do think was intentionally suggestive, albeit too subtle for a kid to ever wonder, "wait what's going on?"

Of course not; I was being facetious.

This thread is deceptively insane...

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Although Star Wars is my favorite movie (of all-time), I will say that Empire is the better movie.  Sort of like when I compare Tarantino's Resovoir Dogs to Pulp Fiction,  I love Dogs more but Pulp is the better movie overall.

Now in fairness, Star Wars and Empire are two different types of movies.  Star Wars is essentially a fantasy serial that isn't supposed to take itself too serious, as it resembles a movie like Wizard of Oz.  Empire IS supposed to be serious, (hence the Cave scene).  That scene is what seperates Empire from the other 5 SW movies because it isn't spelled out for the viewer and there is alot that is going on if you watch it over and over.  What Lukes does BEFORE he goes in the cave, what Luke does during the cave, and Yoda's quiet reaction as Luke has failed at the cave.  Many PT gushers argue the PT has alot of symbolism like the cave scene, but it is all tricks and cheap lines like Obiwan saying to Anakin in Clones, "You'll be the death of me."  Well of course Lucas knows that when he is writing it because he's seen the OT!

I think SW & Empire accomplish what they set out to do, and what you see over the next 4 SW films is Lucas trying to mend SW and Empire together and it just doesn't work.  Jedi & Menace try to be like SW on a grand level, yet try to be empire on a smaller level.  Clones and Sith try to be like Empire on a grand level, and try to be like SW on a smaller level.

I hope S_Matt comes back.  The thread is on the edge of LOL Archive worthiness but needs a little more rage to push it over the tipping point.

It is.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

For me, ANH is tops.  I feel it carries more "on the edge of your seat" moments.  Empire is right there next to it IMO, with more mystery and intrigue.  The best movie and sequal ever IMO.

It is the best because even The Bearded One's Special Edition can't hurt it.

Lucas tried to make it his way by recutting it and taking the film away from Kersh according to the book Skywalking, he tried to make it a faster paced and action non stop film like Star Wars and later Jedi.

He does not understand good drama, and he did not get the nuances and that it was a character piece.

 fucking Lucas...

But then again some of the more lighthearted touches in Empire are pure Lucas, he is the one who came up with Yoda and his fairy tale like silliness, to really being a stern old Jedi.

He came up with the genius idea of making Vader Luke's Father, got to give the man respect for that.

Other things like his bad dialog for the carbon freeze scene that Harrison changed on set, can be forgiven since Kersh allowed him to change it.
