Adywan , this is amazing . I downloaded it last night , watched it today it it blew my balls off. Amazing editing work , its for me the only way to watch Empire from now on bye bye 2006 release . Will you be reconstructing Star Wars and Jedi ?. I think Star Wars would be a bit tricky but wouldnt Jedi be as easy if not easier to do than Empire? . All that i can remember in Jedi is the few scenes in Jabbas palace/ sarlec pit and then the victory celebrations / force ghosts . Is this something you have considered for the future ?, maybe a christmas present to the members here ?.
Anyway you have done a fantastic job , you should be very proud.

Lapti Nek would pose a huge problem, I know that. I don't know how hard the Sarlacc scene would be.
Star Wars would be very difficult indeed - you'd need to deal with Mos Eisley, and the dewback scene (which I've attempted, and that one's a lot harder than it seems like it would be), and the detention block matte painting, and ...
Yeah, there's a lot to worry about in Star Wars. Jedi would certainly be easier, but not without its difficulties.
But since this project was done for Empire's 30th anniversary, maybe Adywan will surprise us all in 2013 ...
Since Jedi would require wholesale use of the GOUT to bring back Lapti Nek and Adywan just announced that he will not be using Lapti Nek or any GOUT source for RotJR, I doubt there will be a RotJ recreation. ESB:80 is almost an extension of some of the work done for ESBR. Since RotJR won't be an enhanced theatrical recreation to begin with like ESBR is, I don't see it happening, but I have been known to make mistakes. From time to time.
OK, I was gonna keep it to myself at least until I started working on it, but as the demand is starting to pile up, I'm gonna come out and say it: As I already despecialized and colour corrected about 90% of Jedi for my partly-despecialized edition and I (along with other people) thought it was pretty much succesful even at 1080p and some people asked me to do an SD version, I decided to make a full theatrical recontruction DVD. I'm gonna start it's own thread once I start working on it when I get my good computer back from the servis (hopefully next week)... Here goes a request to anyone who could PM me links for TB or KGAR Jedi so that I'd have to use the least amout of GOUT possible (well, I basically just need the unmasking scene now, unless I'm forgetting something).

ocp spliced laserdisc footage into the 2004 DVD release. I thought it looked pretty awful.

Ocpmovie's version used laserdisc footage. The jitter of the image was not corrected, and I don't think any color correction was done. I believe there was a 2.0 of ESB, but I don't know much about it.
I haven't seen Paulisdead's ESB Vintage Edit, but it seems he used some histograms for automatic color correction. Which is better than OCP but not as good as Adywan's shot-by-shot color correction method.

To be fair, OCPMovie's ESB Classic Edition was made before the OOT was released in 2006. Paulisdead's preservation was nice but had just 3 instances of the SE soundtrack (EX: Cloud City's Elevator sound effect as Lando, Han, and crew are walking into Vader's trap). I would really love to see Adywan's preservations of ESB and TPM.

I've seen both ocpmovie's "Classic Edition" and Adywan's 1980 theatrical reconstruction.
There's absolutely no contest. In every instance where I knew GOUT footage had to be used, I simply could not tell. And I was looking for it.
There are a couple little things that weren't changed back, but nothing significant at all.
The only major thing I remember Ady leaving be was the 2004 "fix" to Han's shirt in the "I love you"/"I know" sequence. Then, of course, some slightly recomposited effects were left be (like Luke falling down the shaft in Bespin).
As far as audio, everything is as it was in 1980. The snowspeeder crash sound effect is there, too!
And yes, I still have Ady's Phantom Menace theatrical reconstruction. The difference in the few shots taken from the laserdisc is noticeable, but the shots are so short it doesn't really matter. And I still haven't gotten a chance to listen to the proper 5.1 track (taken from the laserdisc), so I don't know how that sounds. (I don't have this on DVD any longer, though, I just have it as an MKV file, so I can't help anyone get hold of that disc, sorry.)

He did this for the Falcon Cloud City landing pad BGs, the Leia's waiting room matte, and possibly for some of the other Cloud City establishers, IIRC. He also filtered the GOUT portions, and used blending/morphing techniques to segue in and out of GOUT footage at times.

So I wanted to re-download this, as I never burned it to disc last time, and the Demonoid torrent seems to no longer exist.

This looks good, but a little smooth/digital imo. Its all about what people prefer ofcourse. Now i know why im doing my project, to bring back the feeling of the analog film.
