You have the EditDroid ROTJ DVD_ROM folder ?

Do you???? (greed)
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

Er, no... I don't think so. I was just referring to all the labels and covers, etc. It's not the dvd rom folder, but I had been in the habit of burning it along with the video_ts folder. Sorry for getting your hopes up!!

I'm going to recreate the ROTJ DVD-ROM folder myself. Seems pretty easy. Do I just create a folder and put all of the stuff into it or is there a more complicated process? I'm just making the folder and adding contents. I'll worry about getting it on to a compliant DVD later.

The DVD_ROM folder is just a folder, since it can't be accessed by set-top DVD players anyhow. As far as I know, you just stick stuff in it and burn it onto the disc . You could even name the folder "Happy stuff", if you wanted to.

I have a question... I downloaded this copy of Empire (ANH and RotJ still downloading...) from MySpleen, and I've tried burning it three times, and every time, it hasn't worked on my DVD Player. I've tried it twice on DVD+R and once on DVD-R. All I burn is the nfo and the Video_TS folder. Any idea what I'm missing?

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Burn it with Nero as a 'DVD-Video', or use IFO Edit to create a DVD ISO (a binary image of the disc) that you can then burn to the DVD using the burn iso feature in your burning program. There are HOWTOs for this on google, I believe.

Simply burning the folder to a DVD will not work.

I hope that helps :-)

Not true! Depends on the player

To make a specification 'DVD' formatted DVD, just burning the folder won't work.

There, like that

Alrighty, I've burned ANH and it works wonderfully. However, my ESB is still iffy. Whenever I play it towards the end on my computer, it locks up the program. Is anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me?

Perhaps you'll need another (read better) brand of DVD's.

A new release of Star Wars is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

Could that even be the cause if my ANH made on the same brand works perfectly?
I'm going to try re-downloading it to see if maybe it got corrupted somehow...

Yes. Lower quality media can be inconsistent, not just consistently bad.

Huh...
It's Memorex DVD+Rs...
Plus I burned ESB 3 times, every time it had that same problem, I burned ANH once, and it was perfect.
Heh, I'm redownloading it anyway to give it another shot.

Does it have the same effect on a set-top player? You said it crashed the software, but I don't think you said what it did to a regular ol' dvd player... *re-reads post*

yeah you didn't.

Maybe you could try and report back?

Anyone know what LD player model was used for these transfers.

All that was said (I believe) was that it was a Pioneer. The Bizzle might know more.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

from the ROTJ nfo:

Player: Pioneer CLD-M90

Page 6 of this thread has the details of how these were made.

Well... That was odd...

Alright, I re-downloaded ESB, re-burned it, and got the same result on my PC.

I popped it in my DVD Player, and went to scene selection, and tried out "Hear Me"
It froze. The DVD Player itself still displayed "Play", as if it was playing video.
I hit eject, and kept hearing the disc slowing down and spinning up, but it didn't come out. After waiting a few minutes, I just turned off the whole DVD unit, turned it back on, and ejected the disc before the player tried to read it.

Huh...

^^;

hmm... that has a high degree of bizzare...

I guess we can conclude it's the disc, as it seems to not work on both the computer + set top, and I have a working copy of the same torrent'd data.

Maybe pick up a 5 pack of some other DVD media?

And you're sure it's claiming successful data burnage at the end. It's not having an error or something, is it? Does the disc look full if you flip it over to the data side (the data will be a slightly different color compared to the unburned portion. If it's stopping halfway through, it will look like a dullish band that stops about halfway from the edge of the disc. If you can't see two colors, then it's most likely finishing all the way.)

This is, indeed, a puzzlement...

Yep, everything says it's successful, and it seems to be in working order. I've now recorded multiple copies of ESB in the exact same way of ANH and RotJ, which both work perfectly, but Empire still refuses...

-_-

I should pick up a case of printable DVD-Rs sometime... I'll test it out then, although currently ESB hasn't worked on DVD-Rs or DVD+Rs...

Or maybe I should try seeing if someone could send me a working copy of it in exchange for something or another...

Oh well, I suppose I'm going to have to give TR47 a shot in the meantime, heh. Thanks for the help though, Phish.

Thanks guys for the info. I read the SW info and it just said it was a Pioneer, don't have Jedi yet. I asked because I find this set to have the best detail of all the sets and since you can't really add detail, I figured this was because of the LD player used. I also assumed the dot crawl was from the use of s-video and that maybe it could be gotten rid of if the composite was used. However, in researching the M90, it seems this only has composite. So why such bad dot crawl? Are you sure the M90 wasn't what they used for their first version? I read somewhere in this thread that they upgraded the LD player and re-did it. Though, it sounds like Jedi was just done once and the M90 was mentioned in that NFO, so...

What I did is I took the TR47 video and meshed it with the isolated soundtrack and I encoded the TR47 audio as full-quality m2a audio. I used DVD lab to re author with the menus and chapters.

Whoever invented the DVD format should be shot, drawn, quartered and then slapped silly. Not in that order.

Anyhow, that's how I 'solved' the dot crawl problem ;P (the video quality is 'worse' than the editdroid video, but I found the dot crawl nauseating... so it ends up being better all around ;-)).

Hey EditDroid, how do I go about getting a copy of your trilogy DVD set?
