I am seriously considering taking my original TV cut airing, the DVD release, the Commentary from the OOP German LD and few other versions and create one sweet ass DVD

- THE recent DVD release was poor Video in 1:33.1 an was bare bones.

I heard Nic Meyer on Coast to CoastAM radio recently and he said he was sad that there was not a better presentation.

Specs would be -

WIDESCREEN - proper ratio of 1:75:1

Commentary track by director Nicholas Meyer.

The original broadcast intro and discussion panels.

The original radio address by the President of the US whch was given by a voice that was a mimic of Ronald Reagan.

In subsequent broadcasts, vhs, DVD, etc., the voice was changed to a more generic, non-identifiable voice.

Alternate Opening

Restored Audio in English

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

As a TV movie from the early 80s wouldn't the OAR be 1.37:1 to begin with?

Many tv movies and miniseries were shot with European theatrical release in mind.  This is why the original "V" is widescreen on DVD.

Glad I wasn't hallucinating the Ronald Reagan voice back in '83! This movie is the reason why I can't watch the old Hanna Barbera Richie Rich cartoon ever again. ;)

The German "Special uncut edition" is in anamorph widescreen ans contains german and english audio. But without audio commentary.

Maybe I could post one or two caps, if anyone want to check quality.

It contains 3 short educational movies:

Duck & Cover [9:12 Min.]
Let's Face It [13:31 Min.]
A Day Called X [27:34 Min.]

(english with german subs.. don' know if burned in)

EDIT:

I just zapped through the DVD, but at the end, just befor the credits, i noticed two texts on black ground in german. Some advice about how terrifieing the movie shows with just showing small piece of catastrophe, and that it is hoped that this movi inspires leaders of nations to keep peace.

Has anyone heard anything from Mitch? He hasn't been in the forum since march 20th. I'm waiting for some response regarding PMs to him.

This movie scared the crap outta me for years when I was a kid.  Saw parts of it when I was 8 years old and it affected me for years.

Here just a little Snapshot from the German DVD:

And this text at the End of the Movie, just befor Credits start:

and

The sad thing is that these texts are just in german, not in engish via seamles branching.

Wow.  That sounds great Mitch.  This is one movie that I'd buy again if it was released with the specs you've listed.

Does anyone know anything?
